Want to build Franken UPO need help from experts

Hi All,

I am new on this fantastic forum and need some help from you guys. I am quite satisfied with my rep PO but there are some annoying details on it like the hands which have some small blurs on the steel surface (from some angle). The lume part of the hands are also not perfect. The color of it is greenish not like the white color of the hour marks. The crystal has AR on both sides which is nice but in some light conditions it gives a kind of brownish shade to the dial.

Due to these problems I had the idea to change some parts to gen parts but wasn't sure if it's possible. Also could not find any source to find genuine Omega parts.

Than I found RWG and read about Franken wathes and Ofrei and Cousins. It was immediatelly obvious that I need to go Franken. I decided to change hands, dial, date wheel and crystal but I don't know exactly which type of rep PO do I have. Are the parts of it interchangeble with gen parts? The wach was preowned and was sold as an UPO. (I read in some comments that only the 4gen UPO can be Frankened.)

Could you please tell me which type of rep PO do you see on the pics?

We just had an interesting discussion on the whole UPO frankens issue, courtesy to bamcky: http://www.rwg.cc/topic/143579-franken-45sa-short-comparative-review-of-the-pros-and-cons-of-franken-planet-oceans/

To answer your question - yes the 42 PO takes gen parts with fairly small amount of modifications. Read this, for example: http://www.rwg.cc/topic/142430-my-planet-ocean-45mm-damaged-to-franken-the-story-so-far/

Yep as Ade says that will take all parts fine, it's a standard 5th gen 42mm PO, it's one of the early releases of the 5th gen, a fine base for a franken.

Lots of threads on the forum regarding the procedure needed for a franken, you sound like you've already covered most of the details anyway!

Yep, good stuff, there are monumental amounts of threads across all the forums covering po frankens, it's a very popular watch and a very popular franken to do....it's great because the amount of details are a great reference if you want to try it yourself. The alternative is to get one of the forum watch modders like domi or zig to do the work. You will love the franken once you are finished!

Thanks for the hints but since I am from EU and don't have the skills I'll have to ask my watchmaker to make the mods. As a first step I already ordered the gen hands to check how fast and reliable the shipping to my country from UK. If everything will be ok dial-crystal-date wheel will follow. Originally I didn't plan to change crown but as I saw on the pics it is also a day and night difference.

Anyway I am sure I will love it. To be honest I love my rep with its failures as well. Since I have it I can not convince myself to wear some of my other wathes.

Hi there and welcome.

The UPO tag refers to the 45mm version of the PLanet ocean. Yours is 42mm so I'll refer to it as a 5th gen 42mm PO.

Here's mine with the complete mods you have mentioned

Gen dial, hands, date wheel, crown, is it has hen he valve and gen rubber strap. Al parts from cousins uk and their postage is excellent.
