seafoam
Ok, i have 7032 with the aformentioned movement. i recently installed gen crown and tube and am now hearing a clicking when screwing and unscrewing the crown. My first thought is the stem was not cut short enouogh. Any other thoughts out there? Is this normal for manual wind? Nothing to worry about? Just thought I'd check here real quick. Thanks. sf

freddy333
Your stem is (about 1-1.5mm) too short.
seafoam
Can this cause issues if ignored?
freddy333
At some point, you may have trouble winding or setting time, depending on where the clutch gets stuck.

seafoam
@freddy333. I just pulled this from the web: "I suspect that your Colt does do it, just quieter. It's the sound of the ratcheting mechanism in the winding mechanism. To unscrew the crown you have to turn it in the opposite direction to winding the watch and so the teeth 'slip' rather than engage and that's what you are hearing." and "Sounds like everything is normal! What you are hearing is the winding pinion. Rest easy. Roff is correct. Enjoy the watch!" This was re a Breitling chronomnat manual wind. Could this be what i am hearing? redwatch
My 7734 doesn't do that. It does it when the crown is unscrewed as I turn it the opposite direction to winding, but when I am unscrewing the crown it just comes out nice and smooth.
