Uhrenfreund25 Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 My package is displayed as "released with charges" - do I have to pay taxes for the import? What does this mean?
the collector Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 It means that you will have to pay customs taxes and charges, can i as how much you paid for the item?
Uhrenfreund25 Posted November 6, 2006 Author Report Posted November 6, 2006 It means that you will have to pay customs taxes and charges, can i as how much you paid for the item? I've paid 230 US-Dollars. Is this usual?
the collector Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 Where do you live? customs taxes vary in different countries.... but "released with charges" means that you will have to pay, do not worry the charges on 230USD will not be high
Uhrenfreund25 Posted November 6, 2006 Author Report Posted November 6, 2006 I live in Austria, but the package was sent to a friend in UK. So the taxes have to be paid in UK. How much will this be? It's an IWC Ingenieur. the collector Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 Not very high, i would guess between 20-40 Pounds
Uhrenfreund25 Posted November 6, 2006 Author Report Posted November 6, 2006 Not very high, i would guess between 20-40 Pounds But I can't show them a payment for a replica, right? (Paid with PayPal) So what should I show them?
By-Tor Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 If it was sent from another EU country to another... (Austria to UK) you shouldn't pay any taxes. The shipment shouldn't even go through customs inspection. Sounds weird.
Uhrenfreund25 Posted November 6, 2006 Author Report Posted November 6, 2006 Sorry, it was'nt explained clearly: I've ordered an IWC Ingenieur from EL and because there are big custom-probs in Austria, the package was sent to a friend in UK who will forward it to me in Austria. So what bill could I/my friend show the customs to pay taxes?
the collector Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 He does not need do show a invoice for the customs. The parcel that EL sent states that the value of the parcel is 250USD. Parcelforce will send a invoice to your friend, then he will have to call them and pay the charges. Thats it, very simple...dont worry, at least you know that your friend WILL receive the watch.

Thanks. Does this happen often in UK?
narikaa Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 Thanks. Does this happen often in UK? N E V E R (on any of mine!) .
the collector Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 When you order a watch, you have to ask the sender to write the value of the parcel under 100USD, this way you will avoid the customs taxes.

Finepics Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 The fees are £8 import duty then another £13.50 which are Parcelforces fees for collecting the tax 0 neve seen anything like it - how ridiculous!
