rek001
Hi all, I'm thinking of getting a modern style SS/blue dial Submariner for summer. I've been to all the dealers' websites and the blue ranges from the Smurf blue to a beautiful dark, rich navy blue on trustytime's site. My question is - is there more than one version of the blue color for the modern style Sub? I don't care for the Smurf and am hoping there is a version of the moder SS Sub in which the blue dial & bezel is a darker, less bright than Smurf blue. Thanks very much. If you check out WatchEden's offerings, they have a blue 16610 in the budget range None of that engraved rehaut, cerachrome bezel nonsense, just a Japanese Market release of a classic piece
DragonWrangler
Not sure if a 2813 would work for you, fine for me, check out Silix budget options, they have the Dark blue matching bezel/dail for $30 The last couple of 2813's have held up well for me, keep accurate time, just lower beat than the clones or swiss
rek001
Thanks for replies guys. I am looking for the blue Sub with the modern updated 2008 case though, and wondering if it comes with a blue that does not scream Smurf. If I can't find one with the updated chunkier case, these older style Subs from Watcheden and Silix actually look very nice.
rek001
OK, I've looked around some more and this is what I've concluded: The Smurf was the first version of the 2008 Blue Sub, it's still around. Somewhere along the line another version of the 2008 Blue Sub came out - with a darker, more royal blue dial/bezel. This is the version I want. The lighting used by dealers when taking photos varies SO much that you think you are looking at different versions of the Blue Sub, but in fact it's the exact same watch. I think I' ll go with Joshua's budget version, and the QC photos will show me the true color of the blue dial/bezel. Thanks much for your input.
