Case Comparison - Gen 16800 vs TC V-Serial

While using the ST case for a 16800 build I wonder what right movement to use would be. I have a 2879, 2836-2 and a 2824-2 all gen. I want perfect stem height as well as good fit of dial to rehaut and movement ring(as I'm not using a gen movement. E

GREAT info Red. Thanks for the comparison :)

2824 is closer to the 3135

2836 is closer to the 3035

Good fitting dial to rehaut will depend on the OD of your dial and the dial opening size in your case.

Typically the gen dials measure 27.3mm or so.

Movement ring.....good question but I'd think the ring TC uses would work :)

IIRC the rehaut on a 16800 case is higher then that of a 16610 case. Another thing to consider is that:

1. If you use a 2mm crystal on a 16800 case you must use a 2.7mm gasket for the correct magnification.

2. If you use a 1.8mm crystal on a 16800 case you must use a 2.5mm gasket for the correct magnification.

I don't know what it would be on a 16610 case but will assume that it is the same.

I think it's 1.8mm crystal = 2.7 gasket

2.0mm crystal = 2.5 gasket

And 1.8mm crystal on Exp.II and GMT II = 2.3mm gasket

CT, I will send you pictures of the pearls tomorrow.

The movements with the correct movement ring should be no problem. I hope.

Stupid question, is anyone using silicone grease for the crystal gaskets, or just sliding it dry?( no pun)

I've read more than once that greasing the gasket is a no-no.

But I apply a very thin coat to the inside of the retaining ring when I use gen gaskets.

That is what I have read in the past before as well. Those gaskets when used in other brands are friction seal gaskets. You need to create that mechanical seal sort of speak. Recently I have read a few posts where people are applying a bit of silicone to the gasket(cannot find them now though)
