Looking to get a new strap . Need some help

Hey,

I'm fairly new at this and this will be my first strap change. I'm ordering a cheapie Submariner from Silix (link below) and I'm hoping to change the strap for a rubber or cloth strap of the same blue.

What is it I need to know (size, diameter, pins) when buying a new strap? I tried finding a guide online but I couldn't find anything clear on what to look for and how to change it. I'm also wondering where you recommend shopping from.

Any help is appreciated!

Are you looking for a NATO type strap? Lots of folks make them. You can get just about any color you want. Google NATO strap, Maratec, Bond strap, etc. Generic 20mm springbars will work fine.

And gtrider, I don't think any other rubber strap will look good because the part where it conneccts to the watch is curved on a rubberb to match the curve of the case.. the ones you showed on eBay dont. It's a much nicer cleaner gen look to have rubberb I'm telling you.

  • 1 year later...

rubber b pics (how do I post them - I see no paper clip to click on?)

My impression...

Nice quality, velvet smooth, looks durable without looking bulky.  I would not have anything less for my 1986 Submariner...which I have had since new.  Is it worth $240 (?)...yes, if it is the only one out there that looks this good, and presumably last as long as advertised.  It would be nice if Rolex would partner with this company to supply straps...so it could have the Rolex insignia embossed on the band/clasp similar to the Tag Aquaracer...which one would know is special just by seeing the watch from the side or bottom while on a wrist.
