gt rider
Hey, I'm fairly new at this and this will be my first strap change. I'm ordering a cheapie Submariner from Silix (link below) and I'm hoping to change the strap for a rubber or cloth strap of the same blue. What is it I need to know (size, diameter, pins) when buying a new strap? I tried finding a guide online but I couldn't find anything clear on what to look for and how to change it. I'm also wondering where you recommend shopping from. www.silix-prime.co/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=116_205_214&products_id=2043&zenid=9dh7415fr05a4q019krk5e9th1 Any help is appreciated! codemonkey
Subs use a 20mm strap. You will need a springbar removal tool, some replacement 20mm springbars wouldn't hurt if they dont come with the new strap.
panerai153
Are you looking for a NATO type strap? Lots of folks make them. You can get just about any color you want. Google NATO strap, Maratec, Bond strap, etc. Generic 20mm springbars will work fine.
cc33
Rubber b makes one in blue for the sub, they're the best imo

gt rider
That blue rubber one looks great. 220$ is much more than I want to spend, however. I have narrowed it down to a few options on eBay. I hope the blue matches. cc33
Just to let you know they have repped the rubberb straps so you could get one for 55$ if you wanted.

gt rider
Do you think this blue will match the watch's blue? I like this one best. http://www.ebay.com/itm/20mm-Silicone-Rubber-Watch-Band-Strap-Blue-with-Stainless-Steel-Buckle-/251050455272?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a73c5f0e8#ht_954wt_698 Would this one be a better match? http://www.ebay.com/itm/20mm-Blue-Silicone-Rubber-Diver-Watch-Strap-Band-WB1221-/251094930440?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a766c9408

cc33
And gtrider, I don't think any other rubber strap will look good because the part where it conneccts to the watch is curved on a rubberb to match the curve of the case.. the ones you showed on eBay dont. It's a much nicer cleaner gen look to have rubberb I'm telling you.
gt rider
I agree with you. I see what you are saying about the curvature on the RubberB strap but alas I ordered the 11$ off ebay because I did not want to pay 65$ for a strap going on a 35$ watch. Maybe one day I'll upgrade. drueb
rubber b pics (how do I post them - I see no paper clip to click on?) My impression... Nice quality, velvet smooth, looks durable without looking bulky. I would not have anything less for my 1986 Submariner...which I have had since new. Is it worth $240 (?)...yes, if it is the only one out there that looks this good, and presumably last as long as advertised. It would be nice if Rolex would partner with this company to supply straps...so it could have the Rolex insignia embossed on the band/clasp similar to the Tag Aquaracer...which one would know is special just by seeing the watch from the side or bottom while on a wrist.
