An el cheapo Rolex Daytona DLC with a 21j movement has gotten me quite a few compliments. I think it's because people don't think it's a Rolex due to the black coating.
I have one of those, it's got the newer style striped dial, not the nice sunburst dial of old. The size is correct, it's based on the larger PO case I'd assume. It's a shame they didn't base it off the 42. I like it, but the AR coating seems to somehow make it more reflective if anything. It's a flawed rep to be sure.
I recently picked up my first Daytona rep with a handwind movement, and the ticking noise is really bothering me. I can hear it clearly from 4-6 feet away depending on the ambient noise level.
Is this typical for this movement? Would a service help?
That watch is listed in his value watch section. Don't expect a functioning chronograph ( the hands will either always move or never move ) or an AR coating, etc... There will be obvious differences from the Gen. It might still be a nice watch, but not as nice as the higher end reps.
