whereisbrothersterling
Hey again. I know no body knows me here but I do like the way everyone seems to help each other. On my last post at the bottom I mentioned I am searching for a built Daytona with the right movement. My question is do these not come for sale very often?? Am I better off just starting to try and build my own?? ANyhow here are some of my watches and Straps. Hope everyone is having a great weekend. dieselpower
Nice collection of watches. As for the straps..... not to my taste but hey ho , each to his own. Re: Daytona, they don't come up very often and are quite pricey. If I were you I'd source a movement (buy an old V72 powered watch on the 'bay) then add parts until you can send the whole package of to a watchmaker and there you have it. That way gives you flexibility on which parts to shell out big bucks for and where you might be happy to save a few $. Take bezel inserts for example, gens are rare as hens teeth and mucho $ but there is a pretty accurate rep available for $200(ish) Hope this is of use. whereisbrothersterling
So give me a top end ball park, $2500??
HauteHippie
Which Daytona? I broke the $3k mark for both my 16520 and 6265 Frankens. It's just a question of how far you go. Mine are all gen but the mid cases. And the movements are the non-Rolex branded versions of the same movements Rolex used. whereisbrothersterling
I don't care about the movement being correctly marked. I just want it to fit a gen Dial. I also don't care which model as long as it is Plastic crystal
danielv2000
So give me a top end ball park, $2500?? Like Chief said, you can easily get in the $4k-$5k range if you add gen insert, gen dial, gen bracelet, etc. If you can get a hold of a DW case, that's your cheapest bet. A v72 will set you back around $1k. Gen dial, depends on model and condition. Expect at least $1,500 for a black dial and in excess of $2,200 for a silver dial. HauteHippie
Yea you're going to hit 3k and beyond. The 6265, 6263 with v72 are good choices and have plexiglas crystals. Here is mine: Sent from my iPhone using Forum Runner

dieselpower
Whilst we're on the subject of Daytonas (my favourite) can anyone tell me about the lug holes on a DW case. Are they drilled correctly or do they need re-drilling to fit gen size springbars?
