edgematic1
Does anyone know if they ever repped the old style case other than the on the EOD?
Watchmeister
Not as far as I know. Standard operating procedure is to buy an EOD and strip it. It is only pvd.

MADRED7
I praid and insisted to do the "old-case-model" but no dealer listened and their answer was: "...it´s not popular enough!". So as W. stated above, only chance is buying the EoD and remove the PVD and have the case rebrushed. Dr. Theo
edgematic1
Yep, I'm finding out a way to clear the PVD coating, I've read Hydrochloric Acid 32% can get it off right away, anyone who has experience?
Watchmeister
Won't the bead blasting done in prep for a new PVD achieve the same thing?
edgematic1
Yes, I think that's how Avitt does it, but the chemical stuff might be a DIY mod, which makes it interesting
MADRED7
Bead-blasting will get the PVD off but will also change the surface (brushed and polished) of the watch whereas chemical removing won´t touch the existing finish. It would be more easy to approach one of our trusted dealers and ask them to source an EoD case BEFORE the PVD will be processed! Dr. Theo P.S.: Maybe Angus will be able?! I know of at least two folks who tried unsuccessfully who had picked up the earlier model gen dials but it never hurts to ask again.
MADRED7
... right on. I will have to bother Angus a little bit more to source a case (or complete watch for me!) Dr. Theo
beano2004
I have done this mod and bead blasting does not remove all of the pvd. I can also tell you the pvd hardens the case so when drilling the new crown tube one will need a special drill. A special watchmaker up north can handle such request as he has done one successfully.. :-)
