jdkno Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 As the title states, went to set my big pilot this morning and when screwing the crown back in it stripped. It is threaded inside the tube so I can't tell if its the crown or the tube that is stripped at this point. Anyone have this happen?? Is there anywhere that one could get replacement parts??
ocram Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 No need for getting replacement parts. This is a well known issue on the Big Pilots. Open the caseback, remove the stem and then just take a little pair of pliers and bend the crown tube very careful to make it A LITTLE oval. Issue fixed and the crown will screw in tight again. jdkno Posted November 10, 2012 Author Report Posted November 10, 2012 Thanks Ocram, I found outvabout the pliers trick last night while searching for more info. Worked like a charm on my big pilot and I also used the same trick to fix the stripped crown on my UPO. I have the gen parts for the UPO and just haven't had the time to do the swap. I guess time will tell how well the pliers trick will hold up.
