Can someone explain exactly what is a tropic dome crystal. I know it's something to do with it having a skirt around it's bottom edge but could do with a full explanation from an expert.

I'm no Rolex expert.....But as far as I've seen on these forums, It's a simple piece of plastic that costs an outrageous amount of money, primarily because of the printing on the paper envelope it arrives in...;-)

I saw one on Ebay a month or so ago for $700+ !!!!...Just plain nuts!!!

"Tropic" is just the nomenclature used for Rolex crystals; i.e. similar "Oyster", "Rolesor", Rolesium" etc. Just marketing...
