I sold a dw 7032 not so long ago but i dident think of this then and i just hade the watch for a few hours or so. I just noticed this flaw now... The two pics are form dw webpage with what i think is a flaw? YOU tell me... It seems as though the groove cut in for the gasket does not go all the way around on the DW case causing the "shelf" you are describing. I think that's just the machining for the actual case back opening. I ended up buffing those "perches" away on my build. Watch is water proof/tight with no issues.
