Ultimate PO 42mm (v5) movements

Kray

Recommended Posts

Hi all, first post here. I'm considering to buy the v5 of PO 42mm. From my untrained eyes, the UPO looks exactly like the real thing, which is good. That's on the outside, but on the inside, I've been browsing the forum and trusted dealers threads, and there seems to be several versions of movements, such as the swiss ETA and the asian clone (gold rotor or something), which cost USD50 less. I don't know much about movements, but should I get UPO with the swiss ETA movement, or the asian clone is "good enough"? If it were you, which movement would you choose, and why?

Hi Kray, welcome to the forum buddy  :)  get the asian clone movement, no need to pay extra for the swiss, but remember only buy from the TD's on here mate  :inverted:  Good Luck!

Thanks for the feedback. Is there any particular reason why the swiss ETA is bad? To be honest, i am a bit inclined to go for the swiss ETA mainly because the movement / rotor is nickel plated and has insignia on it, which i think i closer to the real thing. The asia clone has a gold rotor, which i think the moment you open up the back and see the gold rotor, immediately would know it's a replica. That's from the apperance perspective. In terms of performance, is the swiss is better than asia clone?

Kray why did you ask the question in the first place   :g: do your friends regularly open the back on the watch your wearing?

We have advised against Swiss because you may pay for it but not get it or if you do it may not be the best condition movement, you asked, we replied.......tread your own path mate  ;)

I just wanted to get the best movement available for the watch, and the closest to the real thing as possible (including how it looks). I appreciate all the advice (about how i should avoid the swiss eta), i was just curious to know the reason why i should avoid it. At least now i know the reasons, which is i could be getting an old and dry movement, or i may not even get it at all even though i have paid for it. It settles then, i'll go for the asia clone movement. Thanks everyone, i really appreciate your advice and feedback. I guess the next step is to choose a TD with the best price for v5 UPO. :-)
