jtiis Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 Just thought to update my Sig profile (a Daytona1984-inspired SOTC listings). Though a rep site, here's my much loved Omega 311.30.42.30.13.001 (wow, couldn't they come up with a more "reasonable" model number?). This comes sporting a chocolate brown dial (a $600 or so premium over the same model with black face). She's not a limited edition by title, but Omega no longer has the "brownies" in their catalogue and only offered them for a few years (ending in 2012 I think). Omega made these in homege to a few of their original (321) black dials that turned a lovely brown over time. I paid their "premium" in the hope that only being available for a short while, they might gain some following. That being said, I saw several folk had modded their black-faced Speedys with Omega's Limited Edition Gemini dials. I loved the looked and wanted to build my own even though it mean sourcing a LE dial, broad arrow hands and bezel. Thankfully for all but my wallet Watchco (of Australia) listed most all of their Omega parts for sale on the bay so... I became poorer even if end result though was pleasing. When worn on a black strap the dial looks very different than on a bracelet. The black just pulls out the few standout dark areas of the dial. I liked that. However, I'd always wanted the rare-as-hens-teeth Speedy 1450 bracelet. One finally came along at a good price so - that's how she's worn for now. I think the dial still 'works' just fine. So, I'm happy to share this little friend with you and hope you enjoy the "show". Details: Movement: Manual wind, 1863 with Rhodium-plated finish. 48 hr power reserve. Case: SS with Sapphire front and back (hence the "Sapphire Sandwich" moniker) Pixels:
cougar1 Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 Lovely jtiis, always enjoy looking at the chocolate speedy, and the modded gemini is a better looking watch than the official release. Almost sorted on my silver dial and gemini mods, although it took a while to acquire the parts.
