  1. When did ARF release their v.2? (month and year if you know). Thanks.
  2. The videos I saw of the new movement had a very jerky 6 sub... even if it keeps running (guess we're still seeing how reliable they prove to be).
  3. Who should I contact these days? Bought a set before but need one more now. Thanks.
  4. I'd love it if that model stayed in that price range... but I think I'm talking about a different "model" than you are ... lol
  5. I really can't compare the feel of the two movements (two being AETA and SW200). I can just say the SW is super smooth and is keeping killer time. I've not looked to see if it's an SW200.2 (look up the difference in discussions about the Patek watches... I think that was the most common discussion bringing it up in the past). Being a newer (later) watch I'd guess they are. As she did well on her swim test I don't want to open up just to see - but when I do - I'm my rememberer is remembering I'll do so. AETA's well cared for can be great movement those.. some more than others - but certain can be.
  6. "Where's the incabloc, loser!!" ... Is that what they call it now? Sorry an 8x loupe was required! LOL
  7. Thanks. Liking this thing more and more. Took her by my smith for some other work and had him put her on the timing machine and do a pressure test. .5+/day and passed the PT for 3 bar no problem (straight from factory no o-ring greasing). I'm actually slimming down my collection but wanted the fifty when I first saw it was out as I'd liked the gen for some time. Happy camper. Sad to see some others go but this one is a joy to have come in. Cheers -
  8. Or... even cheaper... my Bulova Precisionist (less than $200) that is 10-15 seconds a year. (and THAT with a second hand sweep that is smoother than anything BUT a Spring drive!). Good watch on the cheap!
  9. Best Friend Forever... well, as watches go "Forever" is a pretty loose word - but take my word for it... the Noob Fifty is EXTREEMELY NIFTY. Bezel click and movement is very near the gen. Has a fantastic - but not overwhelming - heft. All while wearing much smaller than most 45mm watches because of the curved bottom construction. This also prevents the watch from having a hockey puck dynamic that so many large watches possess. The attention to details on this piece show in spades. This one has the SW200 in her and is mounted on a custom shark strap from Stone Creek Straps. The little Blancpain display was a accidental find on the bay. *Pardon the dust spots... she showed up "clean".Cheers -
  10. This one is MUCH better... as it has the crystals all over the bracelet.
  11. So, I have a 42 5th gen with swiss 2824-2. My understanding is this movement accepts gen hand and dial. I've install the dial and the minute hands goes on fine (haven't tried the seconds hand) - but the hour hand in no way seems to be attaching to the hands pin. It just slides around on the dial with the backside spacer just falling into the dial cutout for the hands pin itself. What's up with that? TIA. Want to make this happen!
  12. Anyone heard from member fixed lately?
  13. I've bought several from him. Nice guy and good quality all around.

    Help Needed

Yes, Fixen I may have to reach out to my friend. I did send a "final" email to 2Geek letting them know how much I appreicated their "thoughtful" care of my xtal. Did get an email back saying "You should have received it by now... we'll send another". Fine, if "another" comes in 2 weeks I'll be a happy camper. If not, not surpirsed and looking for other options. Not holding my breath, still... checking my mail...

    Help Needed

Before I read all the "Don't have anything to do with Taka"... or at least... before I realized Taka was running the rip off 2Geek.net site, I was stupid enough to send him my 3714 crystal for AR work. Lots of excuses later and four or more months later I give up the piece as lost. (He really pulls the bull out I'll tell ya, "Oh, it was sent to the wrong place... we found it"... "Oh, it was tinted but came out too blue, we're redoing it now"... finally, "Oh, it's done and we mailed it." Great... got traking.... silence.... a month later... still no crystal so.... I have over 2 thousand in my franken 3714 so, if you're snooping around this site still Mr. Taka - "Thanks a bunch for being such a looser". For everyone else, I'd REALLY like to finally get this watch on my wrist. Had he sitting for over half a year - never so much as worn - so it t'would be a nice Christmas gift to find a replacement and get a Sunnydale AR in place. SO.... if you have a dead 3714... or better yet, just a cyrstal from one you can part with it would really make my year end well. I'm CONUS if that's helpful info. Cheers - jtiis

    6265 big red

I THINK that's pretty impressive but I'm not sure. Can you send her to me for a few months so I can make a better determination in person?
  17. Best Sub under $300? Take a TC Sub. Put it on the table. Place 3 $100 bills on top of that. Done!
  18. Perhaps ewatchrepair.com He only tolerates reps, but has worked on them for me with good results. He works on all brands and is trustworthy.
  19. What? They're not SUPPOSED to be sideways? Darn, I've got to change all my bracelets...
  20. Is this different or better than the KH dial on the rouge models?
  21. My PO Pumpkin's dial is not brown but it is more of a dark charcol than a straight black, but this is correct for the watch. There usualy is some difference in color between a rep orange and the gen...and... the gen is more scratch residents than the rep not because it's anything like ceramic, but just becuase of better materials. Both rep/gen are scratchable to be sure. I didn't think I'd like the orange PO- but I've come to like it - and - by comments so do others. So, mulling over adding the gen bezel. Other comments anyone?
  22. Yes, Cr - the Omegas have been going up for a bit. I"ve had 5-6 Aqua Terras over the past 7 years - buy, sell, miss, buy, sell... you know the drill. Can't believe when I started you could buy the auto version for 1100 or so... now... 1700ish for a nice one. Some Speedies come up at good prices but you've got to be patient. If you're not into bracelets sometimes a head will pop up at a nice price point. But most are over 2K on bracelet for sure. I don't hate the new one's myself but I do feel they've gotten to big/thick with the new movements. Lost something of their "nice line"... Besides, there's something special about a morning ritual that involves winding your watch. Thouhght I'd hate something so old fashion... now... it's either great or... I'm old fashioned. Either way, the Speedy is a great piece.
  23. lol.... now we don't want to buy a gen.... because it looks like a rep! I'd say that's a fine rep, not a bad gen. In any case (40mm or 42mm) - as long as she looks good in your eyes that's all that matter. Good luck in the search fraggle.
  24. You agree with "My .02" ?... Yeah, I hear you. If you get one at a great price you'd probably be OK. I just see lots of folk selling them - not because they don't like the brand or Speedy, but because they're moving up. If that's a likely senario, I say just start there.
