  1. If hk tan croc doesn't go I'll take it.

  2. Well, I need some suggestions. I'm in need 5 pairs of the A7750 movement to case screws (for an Rep Omega day/date and 3717 - but I think they're somewhat universal on the A7750s). I'm not sure the technical name for the part - but if you've attached a 7750 to a case then you've used em'...it's a small screw and a tab (that's bent on one end)... the tab works something like a little washer. I've posted WTBs but have gotten no response (not sure how many people look there) - but none of the dealers I've written seem to give a rats. They'll sell whole watches to you - but don't appear very interested in helping out parts wise. So, anyone with suggestions - or happen to have a few of these I could "borrow"? TIA
  3. Does anyone know if the display backs that come on any reps fit gen moonies? I'm looking for one for my 3590.50 and the gens are ... well, a little too gen priced for me. Thanks.
  4. Hi there. Did that display back come with the rep? If so, do you know if it fits gens? I have a 3590.50 and am looking for a reasonably cheap display back for it. Thanks.

  5. Got a Q on the topic of polishing. My watch guy has a nice cloth polishing setup something like chiefs and I've got a gen whose case has some descent scratches I'd liked polished out, but I'm concerned about the case edges loosing their crisp shape in the process (if the shape of the case would effect your reply - it's the Baume & Mercier 8733 viewable here http://forums2.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?p=2401897 ). Is this a justified concern? If so, should I use cape cod cloths and expend a good bit of energy or would my results likely be unsatisfactory by such means? TIA.
  6. When Modelizer put his lovely 3717 up for sale I had to jump on it in spite of the customs risks. Well, just thought I'd share the "fruit" of my labor... Modelizer was great to deal with, shipped promptly and packed my new baby like, well, a baby. It's clear he treats his watches in lots of TLC as she came with nary a scratch esp. considering this is the "older" model (v.1) Always been an Omega kind of guy (and still love em' of course) - but this is the first of a pair of IWCs in my barn. My first IWCs and I'm plenty happy. A few pics and Specs. - Cheers - 3717 v.1 Dial and hands relumed and 3,6,9,12 markers thinned by the Zigmeister ETA DDW k2222/ Jakub AR coating (double sided) Gen Kevlar Strap with Rep IWC deployment The obligatory wristy
  7. Good for u Asim. Doing the right thing is never the wrong thing.
  8. I think everything goes in cycles. I don't know how much small will come back in, but my guess is, thin will be the next dimension to become popular again. As for that Rado, I think it's quite nice.
  9. Congratulations. My new one is at the shop till tomorrow. Enjoy your "new" baby.
  10. I'd wondered why I'd not heard from you. Sorry about your family issues too. Best wishes to you all.
  11. Of late, I've slimmed down the number of watches I own but gotten just a few that are either Frankens or just very nice quality pieces. On this talk of rep cost vs. gen cost I know theres been some talk about how reasonable it is (or isn't) to spend 1/2 - 1/4th the price of a gen for a rep. A lot of folk seem to feel if you pay 1/3 the cost then you should have gone for the gen. I guess I'm in the minority on this one. If I pay $800 for a rep and the gen is $2400 I'd never consider the gen a better watch for me (not even if the USED gen price were 2400). That's because I'd never pay 2400 for ANY watch. I would pay 800. And, if my 800 will get me a nice Franken of the $2400 watch I would never have otherwise (that has long term reliability in its build)....or, a very good quality but less satisfying gen worth only 800... I think the rep though expensive is still a good buy. To put is in shorter form, after I pay 800 for a rep - the extra 1600 I'd have to have paid for a gen looks all the better in my pocket and a Franken all the more enjoyable. Them's my $800 worth.
  12. He still can be reached over at Moe's Tavern.
  13. A very sad LOL... didn't even notice the 33 plaifender... good eye. Hope the buyer uses Amex.
  14. Luv the Lazi too. Waiting for my second hand Concepta 3714 now. Can't wait much longer...
  15. Here's one on the bay now. I never studied the Top Gun. Have not plans on this one but thought some might like a looksie. http://cgi.ebay.com/IWC-PilotsChrono-Automatic-Top-Gun-/260600126233?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Wristwatches&hash=item3cacfa5b19
  16. Anyone have a 3714 (prefer either Panda or Reverse Panda)with a dead movement that's in good shape? I'm looking for a doner for all but the engine. Thanks - PM me if you've got one at a decent price. Cheers -
  17. Saw your post on the RWG what do you do thread. Shoot me an email if you would. I have a question for you. My email is jtiis@yahoo.com Cheers.

  18. Yes, indeed. I do trust Concepta. Unfortunately, this is the reply I got to a request for a refund... Dear Member, our business hours are Monday to Friday from 10 till 17 clock. Today is Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be the e-mails answered only once a day. We can not refund your payment, because the sales charges are already paid. We send the dial on Monday if it will not please you, so you can return it. In the Appendix I have inserted a picture of the original XL dial. The dial looks very good. The picture on the Internet has too much dust fluff. ALso this pic: Guess, I'll have to get it and then do a return unless the seller shocks us all.
  19. Is that very bad? I can see it's not perfect, but a rep dial will be spotless but not "spot on" so to speak... still wondering if you have anything that might help too... thanks. Feel free to PM me on my Questions about this and the other things I PMed you. Many thanks for your feedback here.
  20. Thanks Concepta. R U sure this the same dial as your pics? This auction just started - but it could be a relisting etc. Don't imagine you have a great deal on one for one of your prior sales... esp. the never available -64. He does have a 30 day refund minus shipping so I should be able to get out of it - maybe prior to shipping. I emailed him asking for pics prior to shipping - I just pulled the trigger not wanting to lose it if it were good... Kinda like your stuff... get it while you can. Finally, check you PM - I sent you a boat load of Qs about the 3714 I'm getting. Thanks mate.
  21. Well, I'm in the process of purchasing one of Concepta's Gen Movement and hands 3714 and hoped to find a gen dial to go with it. Tonight on the bay I spied this and got it for a good price ($160 shipped). The description says slight scratches - and zooming in it looks pretty good... so, I gave it a try... we'll see what I get. ** fingers crossed, fingers crossed **
  22. It occurred to me that they were truthful when they named the one ratings forum. What's contained on that website, afterall, are "fake reviews." Hehe, good one... the only time they're telling the truth is when they're telling the truth about not telling the truth. The only reason I didn't get suck into one of those sites was a lack of funds at the moment. I was buy gens at the time - lol. Then I learned "the truth" - and got turned onto rwg and rwi by a fella who was defending rep follower on TZ (they were all over his/her? butt)... but, he was saying, "Look everyone who is interested in reps are not out to pawn if off as gen. Some guys on some sites see this as a hobby and are rather anal about trying to produce a piece that looks just like a gen... for them, it's almost akin to art".... well, the TZers mostly didn't buy it, but I PMed him and asked WHERE those sites were... he pointed me to RWI and then I learned about rwg... Thanks goodness the "good old days.... cough cough" are OLD. Glad to be in these parts!
  23. The left is rep with the tick missing - I think the right is gen - on a rep crown the curcing of the crown is not perfectly smooth- it kind of comes straight out a bit and then curves, on the gen it smoothly curves to the crowns outermost point. Also, a gen crown has deeper more defined cut lines. So, what's the answer?
  24. Talked with Ruby about this DFont as the pic of one she sent me came straight down and didn't curve... she said this is the only one available now... is this right? - no one else has the curved, serifed Dfont wheels from the factory?
