"something must be very wrong with Zenith's marketing" Actually, they're trying pretty hard these days ... with the Baumgartner (sp?) dive from space sponsorship and other things they're pushing to get more recognition. I hope their efforts gain traction 'cuz their watches are top shelf.

Yeah, gotta love the stuff coming from Zenith these days. If you plan to keep this watch for a good long while I think this is a great choice... I just sold my quite new Zenith Pilot (not the newest big date) and got my money back but it took longer than if I were selling some other model... for some reason people haven't gotten as tied to Zenith as a brand as some others yet... shame... GREAT movements and pieces that are looking better and better. Of course, you could just NOT buy a watch for 5 years... and then get a nice PF Journe. Love, love, love...

Thought to share one of my new joys... a newly modded Omega Speedy Pro (Ref. 311.30.42.30.13.001) modded to a "Gemini Broad Arrow" (because of it's use of the LE Gemini 40th Anniversary dial, Broad Arrow hands and Bezel). So, my "new" pictured with the "old"... in this case an Iron Age II, (2700 year old) oil lamp. Cheers - Original and then the mod... (with a little movement porn for good measure!)

Thanks. The giver said it was a simple piece and that's fine by me...it's the message behind the watch (in this case) that matters...and oddly, she runs great!

Got this as a gift from a friend so it's not going to be sold, but I like to know what I've got so as to know how to treat it. Don't know my PAM models that well. What is she? What's she worth. TIA.

If so, PM me. I have straps but would like some metal for this one too. Thanks.

if the Hirsch Genius (or other curved) 22mm straps can be crammed into a 21mm space given the extra plastic "box" insert they use to hold the strap in place (for example, in a 3717's 21mm space)... the answer is yes, and fairly well... BUT, she won't suck to the 'round of the case walls in the lug area quite as nicely (but not badly) - and will, "suffer" a bit from lug bites on the sides of the thick strap ends. If I'd paid $300 for the strap new I mgiht be a tad disappointedd. Having much less into it, I'm quite pleased. B-well.

I used to use Dent Doctors ... now, I found my own solution. Get yourself some Cape Cod Polishing Cloths... they fix EVERYTHING!

Is "Perfect Clones" a perfect clone of "Trusty Time"?
jtiis replied to tlaias's topic in General Discussion
I've NOT become a fan that's for sure. I bought a watch on a bracelet that really can't be switched to a strap. Thus watch was not bought from Perfect Clones by me but by another RWG member only 5 months ago. when I tried to resize the bracelet I found the screws could come out but absolutely would not thread back in correctly on two links. I had the original buyer ask for assistance getting replacement links as without them the watch isn't wearable. First, Joshua asked for photos. I sent them. then His reply was "It's hard to get parts these days. Take it to a local watch smith and let them fix it." If youre going to not be helpful why ask for photos? Maybe I'm expecting too much here, but I thuink if I'm a good dealer if I sell a watch and in a relatively short time it comes up that the watch I sold has defects, knowing original parts from an AD are not an option I'd not just tell the owner of my watch...sorry buddy I only sell the watches ...good or bad...your on your own from here. Thankfully I found a watch smith that can fix it at some expense... But without much help or apparent care from Joshua or Perfect Clones. I'll try and buy from dealers with some after service...not PC. -
Anyone have one of these laying around. I'd my head has asked me to try and find him something to hold on to.

Yes, I wanted several too... and that's the problem. I now have 4 Speedy dials and 3 sets of hands and... 1 watch There are 3 white dials that I've seen. Ofrei sells their Panda for $320. Watcho (on ebay) has the 40th Ann. White dial (which I bought) for less 250ish? The last white dial you show is harder to get as I know (and I actually don't like that one as much so it didn't matter). The silver dial that you have above is supposedly hard to get also - but watchco has them on the bay now too (Along with the Blue Gemini that I have (it's about 290). If the silver dial is basically the same as the silver/white of the Gemini subs I could see that as being a nice dial - but for now, just love the contrast of the blue and silver/white. Later, I'm sure I'll go Panda - but hopefully with a watch i pickup later... we'll see. BTW, I may be able to get dials/hands for Omegas for you at a better price than Ofrei/Watchco now - not sure - but a potential (but to date untried source) has developed recently. Cheers.

Well, gotta love the panda - but I was asking myself that same question this a.m. and I gotta say, I think I like this one better (I bought a black, panda and this dial to use one this watch as I sold my prior Speedy that I'd Panda-ized.) The Panda is classy and bold ... but the silver hands have a tendency to disappear and with the white face the hands do so even more - and - the black bezel kind of closes the watch in. The Blue Broad Arrow mod uses the steel bezel which just extends the watch face instead of closing it off with a circle of black - and the BA hands make time telling better - plus the blue dial also helps with this. Because its not a straight blue dial but a classy (less than flashy) sunburst blue dial its just much sweeter than photos allow... and the subs are not white but a silvery white that is very very nice. So, gotta say - like this one better. I'm hoping to come across an uber cheap Speedy that has a good movement and case but bad dial, bezel etc - so I can have 2 - a Panda and 20th BA in the box. (Hate having nice dials sitting unappreciated). Cheers.

Recently posted a pic of my new Speedy with brown dial. I'd purchased a 40th Anniversary Gemini dial, and Broad Arrow bezel and hands - then red-tipped the seconds hand to match the 40th Ann red of the dial (hard to tell at this angle but doesn't smack you in the mouth from any angle... was going for a subtle tie-together on that front). Like her to death. Now shes on bracelet but here on a nice Croc... happy with both. Just sharin' some joy. B well.

Story about member Raimondo and the spirit of RWG
jtiis replied to By-Tor's topic in General Discussion
I'm good for the shipping. Send me a PP bill and who to pay... but, if it gets lost again, I didn't do it -
Yes, this is the new fixation. Awaiting the extra dials and some real fun.

Good thread... interesting and funny some times. For me - speaking of reps or gens... my biggest disappointment came with my most expensive watch - the JLC Chrono. Felt solid but ended up having an issue (under warranty but still was disconcerting)... looked great but the hands where polished silver and disappeared too much. Bracelet was great. For it's size - just felt too heavy. Oddly, I was also disappointed with the gen IWC 3714-01. Don't shoot me!!! It was actaully a nice watch... I just think I'd come to expect too much. I think I'd NOT be disappointed with the same watch in Panda. Favorite gen to date - Omega Speedy Moonwatch ... followed closely by the Omega AT. Best rep - hmmm... my next one! Seriously,... either the Franken TC Sub I got (and sold) from Justasgood (it was a very solid watch that felt great on the wrist)... or, my Franken 3717... this feels great (a tad too heavy but great) and love the additional darkness and finess of the gen dial.

Finally got my black kangaroo tail NATO for my precious 1665 ... What ya' think, mates? P.s. not bad iPhone 5 camera imp

"I guess it's a bit like replica watches - some people are only concerned about how much pleasure they get from it while others fret about how close it is to 'gen'" lol This, combined with highoeyazmuhudee's observation that this is technically illegal in Thailand and that the good stuff is in your drawers with a 20 minute wait... make this thread a hoot.

It depends which one yourr interested in. Some are fantastic others not much.

"That DW looks great on the 3717. Is it a mod or gen or?" Gen... the 3717 is ALL gen.... part of the "if you can see it, it's gen". "el primero" Yeah, a pretty sweet movement... powered the early Daytonas.

If just got a new Franken 3717 and immediately slapped a gen kevlar stap on her. In the box was a gen Zenith Pilot Chrono. I wondered what the kevlar would look like on the Zenith - and - the tan croc on the 3717 (which I'd seen on others 3717 and really liked). Oddly, I find I not only like the tan croc better on the IWC, but I also like the kevlar better on the Zenith. The Zenith's dial is not quite as dark as the 3717 and the very black of the kevlar actually lead the eye toward the Pilot nicely (in the photo it looks like the kevlar is lighter but in person it's not). As the for IWC, I've just always liked the tan against that face. Think I'll keep them switched myself.

I just bought a 3717 that's all gen but for an ETA 7750 inside (an "if it's visible,it's gen" kinda watch). I absolutely love it and in person I can tell some difference - but - take a look at it's predicessor - a 3717 v.1. with only the following mods: Dial and hands relumed and 3,6,9,12 markers thinned by the Zigmeister ETA DDW k2222/ Jakub AR coating I'll keep the newer Franken, but comparing the two... wow... some reps really got it right!
