  1. Wonder what he did with the Taylor Swift watch? Probably had it re-engraved (i.e. entombed)
  2. Snagged a rouge!!! Can't wait!
  3. Really like the Caddell Submariner Rouge 25-286.
  4. Thanks - very comfy. Love the stichless look and brown/blue combo myself!
  5. ... to help you lighten up and be less formal. Thanks Donerix!
  6. Thanks Gran. Wow, you've been here only 2 years longere than I have but you've put up 12x the number of posts. Jeez Louise - and - good for you/us "grandpa"
  7. Thanks. I'm amazed at how comfy this this is on the wrist. It doesn't have large diameter, but the crown is fairly pronounced and it has good heft... but... on the wrist... just great. I think one thing that helps the protruding crown NOT be a PITW is the uniform thickness of the watch head itself. The crown sits up just enough that it doesn't dig into your wrist... even as much as a standard R. Sub... very happy!
  8. Our lil' community has always feasted on the IWC brand and why not - they make great watches! While it's true many of the factories are churning out great pieces these days (QC issues notwithstanding), some of the oldies from the "Grandpa years" of yester year hold their own... or... still stand atop the hill. This beaut comes from the days when "Swiss Movement" really meant "Swiss Movement" Just received her today from a member on another forum and I'm so happy to add her to the box ... ; the venerable IWC 3227. Hope they do a super of the new design of this model, but until then and even after... she's stunning. Great AR, meaty and accurate bracelet, sharply detailed dial ... altogether loverly. Clean up a couple of surface scuffs and we'll be just fine! (BTW, anyone just happen to have an old Lello for this puppy you give me a holler' ya hear!)
  9. 50 mm, I think my dad has a grandfather clock that's about the size... oh wait, not a rep.
  10. Many years ago - an Omega Date Red/Black. A/R wasn't as gen. Missing one dot on the bezel. But for those 2 - perfecto. IWC Ingeneur (new/blue one) is also quite good.
  11. If your source is watchco then yes, it's gen. I've bought from them lots...all good stuff.
  12. Can't say that I ever seen that font or case back styling on a gen omega case back. Who's the seller? Unless they are a known source of gen parts I'd be skeptical. To my eye this isn't something Omega would do.
  13. I have a Hirsh flush to case croc strap (same color) and another curved end strap and didn't like either as much as the straight pin approach.
  14. Yup, just on the polished areas... but if you work an area you "shouldn't have".... just use a professional grade watch/jewelry cloth/paper/brush (Bergeon No.5444 one of 3 finishes - fine, medium or coarse) made for restoring brushed areas. The poor/rushed man's alternative being the green (rough) side of a kitchen sponge (use a new one, usually cut down into smaller squares)... use it dry... for very rough brushed finishes (for for areas with damage that need to be reduced) various grits of sandpaper will do the job. For final work on polished areas balsam wood is a good finish. For brushed areas pay attention to the length and direction of the broke stroke. Hope this helps.
  15. Rollie & Brown that is. I've always liked black faced watches and brown straps... or... the reverse (brown dial Speedy comes to mind)... Had been weaing my TC on her bracelet or other (grey) strap... then thought to try out a custom croc I had made for my Franken Panda 3714 that's awaiting new glass (when oh when will my AR crystal arrive back home???)... Must say, I really like it and may just have to order another brown croc as this just works for me. Your thoughts?
  16. I have a TC LV and bought a gen crown but it would not thread in - are you saying TC's tube accepts the "correct" crown straight up?
  17. Still kick myself every now and then for not buying your last offering. Happy to watch this unfold... or... fold up as the case, crown and movement may be.
  18. Exactly. Gotta appreciate those techs who would publically post (for example) a work list and wait list with customer initial for each. Maybe 12 watches in and 5 wait listed... and even a pre-wait list - (people who see they need to start packing up their watches cuz' they're soon up for bench time). Could even have a side list - with a brief word about started projects that now have extended wait times due to parts procurement. No one jumps line. No one is given unrealistic promises about return times. A general time frame would suffice barring issues. It's not rocket sceince... just organization and communication. Yes, all this take away from work time - but - in clothing retail ironing wrinkled clothes, retaging and putting things back on hangers is also a side-show... but ... a part of the job. A shortened and public list such as this might also prevent hoards of folk from losing their shirts when/if things go south. Some would get burned but not so many (and I'm not saying Mike is burning folk - it seems he is getting around to mailing items back) - but - I've been around this scene enough years to see "Saviours" become "Scumbags"...
  19. Yes, also the 311.30.44.50.01.002 is 44 mm co-axial version with Sap Xtal - this is a hesilite model. From the dial my guess would be a 1970's Standard Speedy Pro (ST145012).... but... not sure... I like Speedys but am not pro on them. Indicators are: 1) "S and P" in Speedmaster are not on same level and a final "r" with mid-level decline - so not a 80's model. 2) The "T"s in the 6 o'clock position align with the 5 second markers and the thick hour marker is shortened to not cover the seconds markers. Movement likely to be an 861. The change to the plated 1861 was 1996 and this is a good bit older than that... but would be shocked if it housed a 321 or transitional movement. As for the crazy modle numbers they all do have meanings: In the case of the 311.30.44.50.01.002 after the 311 the first two numbers are 30 which means: SS plus assorted metal. Next to mean its 44 mm. Next two mean Mech Co-Axial with no complication (the "0" on the complications part). 01 means she has a black face. and 002 is the sequence number.
  20. If you're in NY - swing by the FPJourne boutique. Lovely pieces - bargain prices. (check them out online first though)...
  21. 12 lume not quite right (full) in triangular pot, rehaut regraving a smidge too far clockwise (not uncommon). Welcome back.
