monkeypunch
My most recent watch, a BP SD has been running like a champ and keeping excellent time, perhaps losing a second a day, which is fine in my book. However, there is another problem. It seems that I can move the date in the quick set position, and manually when moving the hands, but when it approaches 11:55-12:00 the date will not jump over. If I pull out the crown it will make a quick jump then into the correct position. Any ideas what would cause this to happen?
SSTEEL
Try turning the hands manually via the crown clockwise until the date clicks over. It maybe that when the hands were fitted, they were not correctly set at 12am. For an example, a watch I have changes the day/date at 3am lol. monkeypunch
The date jumps when moving the hands manually, but when it comes to the date jumping when the watch is ticking, it doesn't. I have to pull out the crown and only then does it jump over for me.
SSTEEL
In that case then it sounds like the gear is not catching, so could be a simple case of reseating it, or a sign of more damage. Best get it looked at my friend.
