First is ok. Original stuff

Second is good, not a redial or relume

Hands are not ok. They look like lumi hands, they are ok to compliment a service replacement dial from a 5513 or 1680 maybe.. Either way not 5508 hands

Just want to add that the dial and case are not a match.. It's an exclamation dial which dates it to appx 62-63 so it wouldn't really belong in a case from 59

Being that they are completely diff sales it's fine I just want to inform those who might buy them both

Also stated serial # of 129242 is not possible, so the 1 would have to be a 4 or there's a number missing which would make it a 1.2 serial dating it to 64-65 one of the last 5508's and then then case back would be a mismatch.

Go for it, there's so much uncertainty concerning the exclamation point dial regarding dating they have been seen on 59's 61's 62's but mostly early 60's. it's tropical too! Good luck

I would feel a lot more comfortable with that case if there were some cleared photos, especially of the inside of the case back, and the numbers.1959 numbers are  way past the numbers he's claiming (those numbers are from around 1956)  I don't think there were any 5508's around in 56, unless it was a prototype which I doubt. If this case was consistent, and all the numbers matched and were from the same time period, I believe the case would be a whole lot more than 1750.00 USD right now. Of course with a few hours to go, it might skyrocket!!

If you're building a franken from all gen parts, or a mix of gen and aftermarket parts, this case might be the deal , if it stays where it is, but if you were trying to replace a period correct case, or building a watch with matching time period parts, it probably has too many inconsistencies.

Freddy, can I ask what you see that says redial or artificially aged? When I study the effect, it's coming from beneath like a true tropical dial should, imo if someone attempted to artificially age it, the white depth rating would not have remained intact. It sits ontop of the lacquer right, so it would have changed colour in the process. The pics aren't the best but I've seen a lot of gens and this one screams gen to me but of course I could be wrong.

He would have had to make the dial, age it, apply the depth rating after all that and then apply amazing looking vintage lume.. And a faded natural looking exclamation point under 6 highly highly unlikely don't you think?

After looking at the words and coronet closer, they do seem odd, could be an old redial but boot polish would have turned the depth writing off white. The pictures should be a little clearer to really see what's going on, leaves too much open to speculation now.

I knew I had seen these before, the coronet and font even though not the more common one pictured here first, does exist in gen form.. The rest are gens with the same font/coronet as his. The comparison shot is a gen beside his

YEa thats what im saying when it was boot polished the polish was used very far away from the lettering so the dial is still solid black there.

To me it looks brown/tropical everywhere except for a small ring around the hole in the middle

I'm bidding for the dial too. If anyone wants to de-conflict so we don't cannibalize each other with a price war, please let me know

Alas if the dial is a knock-off.....
