tghodin Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 So, after two years of prime service my 5512 gilt chapter ring movement have run into trouble. Its a Swiss ETA 2836-2 which now wont run. The movement hand winds but it seems that the energy stored wont be released. The winding is as hard as a fully wounded Crown and this doesnt change.Anyone have an idea what might be wrong? I have some experience working with movements (keyless work etc) and would be glad if i could repair it.If not, what are my alternatives for a new movement, ETA 2836 or maybe a slowbeat 2846? Anyone know of serious suppliers of those in these days?Kind Regards, Jon
freddy333 Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 May be a broken mainspring or broken/damaged teeth on a winding wheel. Either way, movement should be overhauled & the mainspring replaced.
OmegaPOFL Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 this might be a source for the movt.http://www.esslinger.com/eta-replacement-watch-mechanical-movement-2846.aspx
