Theundeadkennedy
Hi Everyone,I'm new to the forum and hoping to get a bit of advice before my first rep purchase. Reading through the forum led me to Trustytime to shop for a PO. It has been challenging to browse over the past few days with the site being down most of the first two days, but today I was able to access it without it problems. I feel I have it narrowed down to 2 models, the OMG0154 and OMG0246. To me tey seem identical with the exception being the latter's clear case back. Is that the only difference between the two? Or is there more that sets them apart? Also, is this a reputable rep to get me into the hobby with minimal needed fuss or work for the inexperienced? Thanks for any input!-UDK
Cromag
Welcome to RWG! Not sure of those models as I don't use Trusty. Links would help us/me a lot. If it's a non ceramic 42mm you're after, the best is the PO v5 model. Not sure of the ceramic bezel models but I hear they fade color quickly. Theundeadkennedy
Thank you for the kind welcome! I'm happy to have found this place. There's a lot to be learned. I have read about the fading ceramic bezels but may have been confused that maybe not all ceramics suffered from this trait. I was also looking at the Liquidmetal version of this watch from Noob, but it has Asian movement and I really do want Swiss movement because I read that they are much easier to service. I'm not sure which version this is, but it shows as new release. Here is the description of the watch from trusty. Does this help identify which rep it is exactly?OMG0246 - Planet Ocean 42mm Ceramic Black Swiss Eta 2824-2$328.00Made with a Genuine Completely Dissected..... Cromag
I'm not sure but you can try emailing Andrew at Trusty but be prepared for his short responses. He probably prefers succinct question too. Here's a link on the geek with over a thousand posts on the subject you see. http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=178040
Theundeadkennedy
I'll try to email Andrew after a little more research. Tried to access the link but I don't have the permissions. But since I'm registered at repgeek now I'll browse over there a bit. Thanks again! fraggle42
Be aware that nearly all so called 'Swiss' movements are OLD movements pulled out of old watches that have had the minimum of parts replaced (by Asian parts) to get them working. You will very likely get an old Swiss movement that's had a cheap repair.General wisdom between the repairers here and on the other forums is that you are better off getting an Asian movement and having it serviced when you get it. It should give you years of trouble free use then.
