jetlau3 Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 Hi all, my v3.5 is running several minutes slow per day... I'm about to send it to be regulated but I was wondering if I wanted to get a reliable eta to drop in, what movement would be compatible? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
panerai153 Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 ETA 2824, however the Seagull ST 2130 movement in your watch is a very good reliable movement. It probably needs a service and regulation.new ETA's are going to be expensive, over 200.00USD plus installation. Sorry I misread your heading, I thought you had an FC V3, not sure what movement yours has, but the ST 2130 is a good alternative at around 90.00 USD for a new movement.
jetlau3 Posted March 1, 2014 Author Report Posted March 1, 2014 Does the ST 2130 fit in the v3.5 ? Sorry . Is the eta 2824 good or is that for the FC V3 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
panerai153 Posted March 2, 2014 Report Posted March 2, 2014 They all use 2824-2's so the ST 2130 would be a fit. Movement. Your watch may have gotten magnetized, which will make it run erratically. It's very easy to have it demagnetized, you can buy a tool , every decent watchsmith has one, doesn't require any disassembly. So I would try that first, then if it doesn't help, a service may be in order.
jetlau3 Posted March 3, 2014 Author Report Posted March 3, 2014 Thanks. Do you have a demagnetizer you recommend? Will any $10 to $20 one on Amazon or Ebay work or will I need to invest in something higher quality?
mosyzlak Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) Basic demagnetizers work just fine. There is no reason to buy a more expensive one, it is a simple process & works very well, if magnetization is the cause of the running slow. Watchsmiths will demagnetize the watch as part of any basic regulation service. The cost of regulating the watch, which is always recommended every year or so, is not much more than buying the tool.
