  1. +1 Seagull ST26, the 6 o'clock balance wheel has straight spokes and the plates are re-finished/detailed. ETA and GZ versions of this design (2836-2) have angled wheel spokes and non-detailed plates.
  2. It sounds like the keyless works (kw) needs to be reset. Search "keyless" on the forums. It is the most common issue, as the "kw" is what allows setting date, day, etc in different stem positions and also holds/keeps the stem in the movement. Any trained watchsmith can disassemble and reset the keyless works. It's not that expensive of a service. Good luck.
  3. Basic demagnetizers work just fine. There is no reason to buy a more expensive one, it is a simple process & works very well, if magnetization is the cause of the running slow. Watchsmiths will demagnetize the watch as part of any basic regulation service. The cost of regulating the watch, which is always recommended every year or so, is not much more than buying the tool.
  4. +1 to Cromag. The knock-off wristwatch thing is more analogous to knock off items like handbags or clothing items versus genuine items, quality is sacrificed as a trade off for effort/labor/material cost spent on imitating a design (usually focused mostly on the logo) within as limited a cost margin as possible to maintain a financial incentive to bother making the item. Knock off operations are of course purely for maximum profit, not to provide a public service or help anyone but themselves.
  5. Nice! Post pics of the build, sounds like it'll be sweet.
  6. Co-axial escapements are for reduction of friction in the movement, they are always rotating back and forth at regular intervals.
  7. The Seagull equivalent to the 2824-2 is the ST2130. "A2824" refers to any Asian/Chinese clone of the original ETA2824 or 2824-2 design. Not sure if it necessarily means you'll get a Seagull ST2130, because other companies like Hangzhou, etc. make A2824's I think.
  8. Since it CNY, the forum responses will center around that point, companies usually start back up by Monday. People's experience with PT has been good, you should hear back from Angus. You should be able to send it back to PT to have it repaired. Otherwise a watchsmith may be able to find some simple reason it stopped, like a loose screw that fell into the movement, etc.
  9. http://www.watchfreeks.com/115-watch-movements/2656-valjoux-7750-a.html http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/user-guide-a7750-movement-72197.html
  10. a7750's and valjoux 7750's have some sensitive design elements and parts. Some parts were modified and added in the newer valjoux 7750's to help with issues like the date setting though. The Asian versions all seem to follow the original design.
  11. +1 Aeromatic, service. If not full overhaul, a movement cleaning at least.
  12. <br /><br />+1<br />& the crowd fights over it...
  13. Sellita's SW200 is directly swappable with the ETA2824. Sellita's SW220 matches the ETA2836-2, (which is the 2824 with the added day function.)
  14. Btw blackbull, some have noted that 4813's with tall cannon pinions are harder to find, but ymmv for everyone. Certainly being cost effective is a good move with respect to the future. Also, interestingly, the beat rate of the gen omega 8500 is 25,200 bph (bph), tuned down from 28,800 vph having to do with position and the coaxial system, just as they had done in the 2500C movement.
  15. You're right blackbull, new series DG2813's are slightly bigger at 5.4mm (DG4813 is 4.6 mm) but both should fit, as it likely accommodates up to 5.4mm. Further, note that the "-1" or "-2" designation will indicate beat rate, 2813-1, 4813-1 vs. 2813-2 or 4813-2 for example, "-1" is lumpy low beat 21k bph, "-2" is high beat 28k bph.
  16. Actually, the first AP FC Diver rep was made by H-Factory. The AP FC Diver V3 was made by another factory. The confusion comes from Noob making V3 STEEL AP Divers, not forged carbon. Noob did NOT make either FC (forged carbon) Diver. Noob only made steel AP Divers, the last one being the 4.1.
  17. The AP Diver Forged Carbon V3 is made by H-Factory.
  18. Nanuq made a good point, keeping the watch warm is an alternative to servicing it.
