sishac
Hi everyone, today the newest incarnation of my 5513 arrived in the mail. It now sports a beautiful gilt dial and hands that have been relumed. In addition a new rep 702 crown and tube were installed. Heck after the polish, the 2 year old crystal even looks great!! I wasn't 100% sold on the Yuki gilt di when I got it, but it looks simply stunning in person and will now join (or temporarily kick out) my gen 1680 from rotation for the near future!! Here are some pictures....enjoy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

sishac
Thanks guys....unfortunately I now need to get the 2846 serviced, but then I should be good to go. The only other thing I want to do is get a new insert...the Clark one currently on the bezel is immune to bleach and I want to fade it a bit.... Chuck P
You might need to rough up the surface of the insert a tad with some sand paper. Try some fine grit just to remove the clear coat. Then very carefully bleach. Once that clear coat is off bleach will work and work fast.

dbane883
While you're at it, you should pop that pearl out as well...better off without it.
Mendota Explorer
Would acetone work to help remove that clear coat? I thought I had read something over on one of the other boards a few years ago about using this first. You use a Qtip or cotton ball and apply it in a circular motion. Then you can go to town on it with the bleach. Edited March 26, 2014 by Mendota Explorer
Chuck P
Yes, finger nail polish remover can usually do the trick too. I seem to have had better final results when using sandpaper but it is a tricky and in-exact science. I have over cooked many a bezel in my day.
