Odd question about ETA 2836 Hour Wheel "[censored]"

I have a Swiss 2836 sitting around that I would like to use in a no date sub. I want the stem alignment to be as good as possible, so I removed all the date bits in an effort to get the dial slightly closer to the movement. However, the hour wheel has a [censored] on it (not sure if this is the right word but the post comes down and then widens before connecting with the actual wheel) that the dial hits before it can get all that close to the movement. It seems to be in about the same spot it was before.

 

Does anyone know if there is an hour wheel available without the [censored], or do I have to break out the metal file?
