Hi I am new. Have a replica coming tomorrow

Recommended Posts

I got a BP Submariner coming and the QC pics looks great. Fingers crossed.

My goal is to meet some good folks here I could send the watch to and have them waterproof the watch and upgrade it a little as well so it basically is as close to a gen as it can be.I hear the pearl and clasp are the biggest issues from researching here.

My next plan would be to buy a gen once I learn more about watches and ID what I truly want. But for now, this is a great start. I am not sure if I have the skills necessary to mod the watch myself, but this is a very interesting hobby to me.

Thanks, I definitely can see this becoming a small addiction...lol.

My opinion so far, and will expound when I wear the watch today - is that that the quality of these reps is worth more than the price. If you can waterproof the rep and maybe mod the pearl or cyclops if needed - who is going to be able to tell the thing is a rep besides someone who is really privy to the art?

Hahaha..oh man. I have received the watch. Have not taken the plastic guard off yet, but it looks good. The movement is legit. Wondering if I should go get it pressure tested or just start looking for a modder here. Seems like some people believe that the newer reps are already waterproof.

First thing i notice is the bezel is not silent, but clicks when you spin it. This is a BP sub.

I need to learn more before I say too much, but I feel like this thing will fool most people. But taking it off before I jump in a pool or something is tacky..haha. So I will need to solve that potential issue.

Hi and welcome to rwg. Normally the Sub only needs some grease on the gasket of the screw-in crown and the one of the backcase. Before sending it anywhere just wp - test it locally. Biggest tell nowadays imho is when it´s brand new, fresh out the box, the rep looks much more genuine when the first scratches are on.

As for taking it off when swimming You´d be surprised how many gen-owners don´t want to risk breaking a 10.000 usd watch, who don´t want to service the seals at high cost yearly or who just treat the watch very carefully thinking of the potential resale value, never even taking it to the pool or beach when they can take a Seiko or a Casio etc.

Enjoy Yours, the BP´s are nice.

Oh you are right. It's funny really. My goal is to buy a gen that I can wear for the rest of my life and rarely take off. Of course I will get it serviced as well. For now, this is an awesome start for me while I save for a real one.

I have a question though - I have the high beat version of the reliable but cheap a2813. This is probably pretty dumb, but in terms of setting the date and time, what is the proper way to do this? I realized today that I set my date wrong, so basically the date is 12 hours back. I just want to make sure I don't mess up the watch and I know the 10 and 2 rule, but besides that - I don't know. For example, how many winds to power the watch up? Some people say not to do that at all..etc.

Also it can be a little tricky to feel when the crown is pulled out to set the date or time as well.

Hi, no problem in winding the 2813, just don´t do it too fast, 20-22 turns is fine. If the date is 12 hrs back just advance it manually 12 hrs. in the time setting position.

Thanks. It seemed pretty obvious, but I know each movement can be approached differently so I figured Id ask.

Is the high beat 2813 basically like an over clocked cpu? My sweep is definitely smoother than the low beat versions I have looked at on youtube.
