SBOB
Well, hi...been reading around here for a few days and am quite amazed at the amount of amazing replicas that are out there...who needs a house or car loan when you could have all these anyway... im looking at a couple of watches to make lose my rep virginity so to speak... 1)Omega Planet Ocean 45.5mm ... now from my reading...the current 'ultimate edition' over on PerfectClones & TrustyTimes is the 'be all and end all' of PO reps for sheer prettyness... 2) Tag Link Chronograph.... now this is one of the watches that everytime i flip open a mag and see i kinda want...which is silly compared to many a watch you may see but that blue face is just nice(also on PerfectClones and TrustyTimes but they have a couple of versions, which i dont understand why, old version/new version?) now my question I know the PO uses a more reliable ETA movement and is nice and rugged, but from reading on here the Asia 7750 Valjoux in the Tag has mixed reviews.... Would i be dissapionted with the movement in the Tag, most of the reviews have been good but a few DOA's and failures have me hesitant... and YES...a Panerai will be next on the cards...i promise (I know when i looked at the Pam's on day 1 of visiting here i thought...whats all the fuss about, but a week or so in im looking at the Pam 111 and thinking, i kinda see what the fuss is about...plain and understated but damn thats one HUGE watch ) SBOB put me out of my misery with some guidance please Edited December 9, 2006 by SBOB
offshore
Hi fellow Aussie, My personal recomendation, would be to buy ETA movements, at least for your 1st few reps. And steer clear of the more complicated chrono's, at least to start. As you spend more time here and around " the traps". you will get a better understanding of what you REALLY like, and in what direction you ultimately will head. Oh yes, and just keep reading... should only take you a year or two, to absorb all the info available Offshore
Pugwash
Oh yes, and just keep reading... should only take you a year or two, to absorb all the info available Damn, that's a year and three months I've got to wait. The PO is a great choice, as long as you realise it's a big watch. Not Panerai big, but chunky and heavy. It's got presence. If you have tried one on in a shop and liked it, go ahead and get one: you'll be happy. If you've never actually seen one in real life, I'd go to your local Omega dealer and check it out first. I can't wear one, or indeed any Omega on steel as I find the bracelets uncomfortable, but I'm definitely in the minority. As for ETA or Asian first, it depends. I'd have no qualms recommending a Noobmariner (21j Asian Rolex Sub) to a newbie, but I'd not recommend a seconds-at-six Daytona. The TAG Link is one of the better chrono movements and, if handled well, should last you. Still, no-one ever regretted paying a little extra for an ETA. SBOB
Well after much soul searching i went with the Tag.. a riskier proposition but as this is my first rep i really wanted it to have some meaning and ive literally ALWAYS wanted a tag...so that puts the PO and a Pam on the 'what next' list plus showing the pictures to the G/F she thought the tag was a much nicer looking watch, which made the expense of $280US easier to convice her Ordered it from Josh(perfectclones), due to his excellent reports on this site and the browsing of his website made it easy to choose.. now...the waiting game Edited December 10, 2006 by SBOB
