Hi and welcome to the forum! So in brief the noob factory hold for a long time the monopoly for asian movements with sec @12 which is definitely necessary for all the ROO models. Reliability (movements were said to be timebombs) was the biggest problem but over the years this got better and you always have the option to have it serviced or even done a jewel mod. Now J12 factory changed the whole game and we know have an oligopoly basically. Still the ROO has the flaws like the wrong dw and crown position which is due to the movement. Quality wise I can only tell about noob which is very good. J12 is said to be excellent as well but you have to read as much reviews as you can and start comparimg yourself. At the end of the day you need to be happy with your watch and maybe some models are better from one maker and vice versa. Hope this helps at least a little :)

Many thanks for taking the time out to reply.

I've been reading up as much as possible on this and other sites to understand the intricacies of Rep APs. The whole franken and upgrade options are pretty much amazing, and love the way some people have improved on the base quality to get it to such a high standard!

Its very addictive though! I've just purchased a Safari with oem strap, and a Diver with SS strap and black face. Waiting for both to be delivered so very impatiently waiting!

Welcome to the wacky mad world of reps!!!!! sputin summed it up very nicely. the J12 factory is introducing some very nice models lately, some are the new 2014 ROO models that AP introduced a few months ago. One thing about reps, it's very hard to make a blanket statement as to which is best. Some models, J12 is much better, other models, noob is better, so what you have to do is pick what model you want and then look at the reviews and comparisons for that model. If you are looking at a FC diver for instance, you need to look at reviews comparing the noob FC and the J12 FC, then decide which you like best. All of them are going to have flaws, so one thing you have to decide is what flaws can you live with and which ones will drive you crazy and end up forcing you to sell your watch 2-3 weeks after you get it.
