Try another max winding and see if it stabilizes after shipment. Otherwise, could be an option to consider a service.

thanks! just did that this morning fingers crossed it'll be fine after. would a 48 hours power reserve to be considered too much for this? or should i be expecting around 30 hours?

thanks guys

when you say all the way to the end you mean as in can wind no more or as soon as it starts to kick back? I'm afraid of over winding.

The kick back is the ratchet wheel doing it's thing with each wind.  Keep winding until you feel an obvious resistance to winding any further (this will feel different than the kick back, you'll know it when you feel it).  When you feel that, you know it is fully wound.  Do this and you won't over wind it and will get full power reserve for 36 hours or more.

The ratchet wheel kick back you get with each stroke should feel a little soft and not that strong compared to the resistance you get when fully wound.
