Bezel changes, ROO Rubberclad to Stainless Steel

Recommended Posts

Well guys I embarked on my first little mod on one of my AP ROO's. I have two very nice Rubberclads so I decided to change out the bezel for a brushed S/S, Well little did I realize after quite a bit of reading, the Rubberclad bezel screws do not have the small rubber washers that are found on the ROO's with metal bezels. It looks like the rubber bezel acts as it's own washer. So Now I have the Rubberclad bezel off and I don't have any washers for the bezel screws. Anyone have any lying around, or have any idea as to what I could use as a substitute. It looks like the washers are really thin from what I've seen of the photos and videos. Since these are on the outside of the watch proper, are they necessary for water resistance?

Any help or advice would be sincerely appreciated.

Thanks

Hi A

I would definitely recommend the washers be used especially if you're talking about "the possessed one". Water resistance is a good reason, and fit snugness is another. :)

Theoretically, it is still possible for water to seep into the movement via minuscule gaps around the bezel screws. And there are 8 of them for 8 times the "fun"!

I may have a set lying around, let me go look. If I do find them I'll send them your way via courier this time. No more long waits! ;)

Hello Mr. A, that would be greatly appreciated. I was not sure about them, The guy who sold me the bezel said he's taken quite a few apart and most are without the washers. Be that as it may, I am a firm believer in the theory that parts are there for a purpose. I would hate to have this one end up "all wet" inside, just for the sake of a few washers. Like you said, those are 8 places to let moisture inside.
