cambridgerwg
Hi guys, Probably been posted before, but a first read for me and maybe for some others. http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/a-vintage-watch-nerds-critical-dissection-of-the-rolex-daytona-past-to-present-part-1-3 http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/a-vintage-watch-nerds-critical-dissection-of-the-rolex-daytona-past-to-present-pt-23 http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/a-vintage-watch-nerds-critical-dissection-of-the-rolex-daytona-past-to-present-part-
freddy333
Hodinkee contains alot of great Rolex info, but I would disagree with the author's premise. Although the Daytona is an iconic watch & the 1 that I would most like to keep (as a beautiful collectible), for everyday wear, I would probably opt for the 1665 Seadweller, which is less fiddly & more hearty. cambridgerwg
I feel you. A 5513 or 16610 works best for me as an everyday watch. That being said I haven't worn a daytona before but it's more 'dressy' than a sub.
freddy333
The newer (blingey'r) Daytonas are certainly more 'dressy', but the old 62xx series were not called 'tool' watches for nothing.

ww12345
Do you suppose a 62xx series would stand up the same way an old Sub model would?

Do you suppose a 62xx series would stand up the same way an old Sub model would? No, which is why, although I love 62xx Newman Daytonas, they would not be my 1st choice for a beater.
