Hi folks:

I m in process of my TC 16610 Franken, and the original movement seems a bit far from what I expect; to updated it, is Yuki 3135 good enough, or I should go to the gen directly? I wish to hear from some experienced guys, thanks

Depends of your budget

Yuki after service is a good movement

And if you can spend more for few gen parts it's going to get you at $800 range

Gen 3135 between $1500-2000 and you still need service

Thanks for ur advise; I have a TC v3 sub 16610 lv with gen insert, and is that possible for me to replace the TC 2824 with a gen 3135 directly? Will the case, dial, hand , tube and crown fit the movement? Is this a normal job for a common watch smith?

You will need a gen dial,or clip the feet of the TC dial and secure with dial dots.

Hands will have to be replaced with gen hands ($300-500)

Crown and tube do not need to be replaced, but you will need a new stem.

A Yuki or gen 3135 will fit in the TC case.

A competent watchsmith should be able to do all of the above.

Fedor33, Misiekped is the man when it comes to that.  He did the exact thing you are asking for me.  I had a 16610LV from TC and I used that case to put in a gen 3135.  Then put the Yuki and the LV parts into a newer TC case.  The older TC cases are better made.

Thanks for the advices from all ur guys; I have calculated before, a fully Franken is even more expensive than a Gen. That's why I was wondering

After certain price point , it doesnt make sense to go franken. I would rather buy a gen than spend more than 50% price of gen on a franken.
