si_jeff
Hey everyone, a new member here, just wanna share and contribute. These are 2 TC Subs I recently acquired. The TC 16610LN is from rsh from another forum, a great guy and a true gentleman. This is the earlier version case with the lug engravings.TC Movement, KH Dial, V3/V4 strap clasp combo with the sel engravings as well, gen crystal, gen crown, and brand new gen insert. I love this watch, looks great and it has been broken in so it is very comfortable to wear.TC LV 2014 that I just received from TC 5 weeks ago, this is as is. No mods yet. I am wanting a gen LV insert, I do not have a gen LV insert to compare, but for you guys who have gen, is there a noticeable difference between TC LV insert and the gen? Some guy wants $550 for a brand new gen insert. Was wondering if you guys would buy it for that price?A member who is local from NY recommended misiekped aka Mike for modding and is highly recommended by him. So I head over this forum and signed up. So far I really like it here, it is more laid back lolI met Mike last Sunday for coffee, we talked about watches, life and whatnot. All I can say is what a great guy. I have 3 watches with him right now.Just got a text from him last night that all 3 are ready for pick up. Here is a gen 5513 that my father gave me. The bridge jewel has cracked in the middle making the rotor wobble and crack on the sides. Mike replaced both parts for me, together with a gen service crystal. I brought this watch to rsc ny about 4 years ago and it had a rep bracelet on, didn't know anything about it before, rsc handed it back to me and said they could not service it because it had a rep bracelet.. For the experts here, what can you tell me you see on this watch? It has a 6mil serial, and according to Bob Ridley, the hands and dial does not match and also the dial has been changed to a modern one. He wanted an arm and a leg to service this watch so I had him sent it back to me. This was all when I didn't know anything about reps. This also has a 1520 movement. Thanks for looking guys and I hope I can build some good relationship and friendship on this great community! pam007
Congratz on the TC SUBS and the 5513 looks great. No I wouldn't pay $500. My watchmaker has 2 New Old Stock Gen LV Inserts.Apparently you can't get them anymore without trading your old one in.I think he wanted $350 each. I'll pick em up tomorrow if you're interested. Any other good alternative rather than a used gen?

indywatchguy
Welcome aboard! Nice pieces! I own the same ones and Mike took care of the gen crystal and insert install on my LN. Super nice guy! My LV is stock too. I don't think its worth $550.
taxico
Hey everyone, a new member here, just wanna share and contribute... Here is a gen 5513 that my father gave me.For the experts here, what can you tell me you see on this watch? It has a 6mil serial, and according to Bob Ridley, the hands and dial does not match and also the dial has been changed to a modern one. it looks like it's a nice clean 5513, and early 80s if it's a 6m, likely unpolished or very gently polished just once in the past. the insert was also replaced. the non-matching hands are not an issue - they weren't made in the same place/time as the dial and the tritium would of course look mismatched.wear it some more after service. don't think too much about putting it back to how it left the factory. parts are too expensive... and this was how your dad handed it to you.if you can't quite stomach the idea of a rep bracelet, consider getting just gen end links and/or clasp to swap into a good rep bracelet. the old style/hollow mid link bracelets were all made in normal (non 904) steel at the rolex factory anyway, and with those 2 parts in, should look kosher enough... (for me anyway)bear in mind though, gen end links and clasp could make up about 1/3 to half the cost of a wholly gen bracelet...

Just got it back from Mike, my mistake on the 6mil, its a 1.2mil serial actually.. Thanks for the input.. I'm gonna put a nato and leather strap on it for now. Now that I am more informed, I will not do any other mods on it.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Geof3
This is a thread that really irks me regarding Rolex. It had a rep bracelet, big deal. Has nothing to to do with the watch as a whole. I'm completely aware of Rolex's service policies. My question is this, had you taken it in on any old leather of X brand, would they have serviced it then? If so, what is the difference?Very nice 5513 though! Sub007
Hi mate, and welcome!!! Love all three of your Rolex and not sure about the 5513 insert being replaced as the pearl shows nice patina. Maybe a lume shot would work to check pearl and hands. If they both have same hue than most likely replaced together when at service at RSC. As for the rep bracelet I would suggest you go out and find a nice GEN bracelet for this baby. These can be had for around $500 if you hunt for it or place a WTB on vintagerolexforum ....Cheers Sub007

I was an amateur at that time and living in NYC, heard about RSC and went for it. When they gave me the watch, they took the band off and hand me the 5513 separately with the rep band... The dial is already spider, what does this spider dial mean? Is it just a "flaw" of the gen 5513 dials where the paint cracks which makes them unique? The pearl, indices and hand do not glow at all, they dont hold charge anymore..I will get a gen 93150 with 580 endlinks eventually, I love this watch.. Looks iconic classic with the no date.. Thanks! One thing I noticed on here is there's lots of members with the vintage expert and knowledge.. It's great to be here and learn from you guys.. Geof3
The spider dials are actually a run of dials (I think there is a serial # series) that had an incorrect paint job. They were a warranty replacement if the watch went in for service. Funny how a messed up paint job becomes a collector! And, I agree. A gen bracelet is the only way to go on that watch.
