imajedi
The 6536 is ridiculously thin, and the 6538 is much thicker. The Big Crown almost makes a 6536 look like a dress watch in comparison. Quick snap to show the difference Great post, thanks for the education Nanuq. Oh, and nice time pieces!!!
ogladio
So what's the difference between a 6538 and 6536 case? I thought they were the same and the only diff between the models was the depth rating and cosc rating. The 6536 is ridiculously thin, and the 6538 is much thicker. The Big Crown almost makes a 6536 look like a dress watch in comparison. Quick snap to show the difference I'd say you're both a bit correct - but not fully. The 6536/1 (that you Nanuq posted a photo of besides the 6538) is indeed a very thin case. The 6536 on the other hand was a rare reference only produced in around 100 examples in 1955. The case of that indeed resembled the 6538, being beefier than the 6536/1 (and the 5508). So transitional in a way. Most 6536 are also punched "6538", and having "6536" overwritten... The 6536 had the same dial size as the 6538 - 27.0mm (6536/1 was 27.5mm). Also I believe the 6536 was the only reference using the tropic 18, again making it look a bit higher than the 6536/1. But of course, the 6538 then has that bigger crown and higher depth rating.
imajedi
But of course then - the 6538 has that bigger crown and higher depth rating Great info!! So what dial does OP have? If it's not the /1 then this build is basically perfect. Any idea what Eric is wearing in the video? Doesn't seem like an overly thin case like a /
