Does Tourneau sell fakes? I met a guy in a bar who liked my rep Tudor (recent release). He showed me his Tourneau biz card and offered me $1700 cash for it to which I declined. He definitely knew it was a rep. Setting me up? Moron? Not an  above board retailer? The AD employer thing made me nervous.

Never heard of them selling fakes. Very reputable establishment from what I keep reading.

A.) he started in the job yesterday?

B.) had a drink too much?

C.) with the smart business outfit You were wearing it couldn´t possibly be a rep.

Fishy story
The guy was drunk
Tourneau does not sell fakes obviously
And one salesman cannot buy a watch like that in a bar on behalf of the company .. does not work like that ..

Tourneau is owned by an investment bank.  Their sole plan is making money.  They hire unqualified staff and don't pay them well, hence turnover is high.  Staff is mostly not well educated.  Bes guess is the offer was not binding until the "watchmaker" looked at it.  Sales guy was looking for a commission, thats all

Maybe it wasn't on behalf of Tourneau. Just his own money and he was showing off that he was a manager there and knew his stuff which he obviously didn't.  Definitely wasn't drunk. But I can't help thinking it would have ended up in their pre owned section.

Deal was going to take place in bar. When was a "watchmaker" going to look at it?

I'm curious now. Do you know how the deal would have to take place for him to purchase on behalf of employer? Can he buy off eBay?
