A question for tinkerers, modders and franken builders

Question

Hi Everyone,

My name is Basti and I'm new here. I posted this on another forum but got zilch.  Hope trying here will be more helpfull. I have a question that hopefully some can help me with. I am interested in putting a Gen rolex explorer movement (rf3000)/hands/dial in a tudor jumbo case 38mm. Anyone see any problems i might encounter. Size wise everything seems to be ok. This is not to resell, I'm just a fan of the 14270 explorer but find 36mm too small. 38mm is the perfect size for me and the newer 39mm explorer case doesn't do it for me. Also anyone know whats a good crystal (non cyclops) to get for a 38mm tudor case? I know it sounds like a crazy thing to do but Its for me and something i know ill be happy looking at everyday.  if worse comes to worse I can always flip the 38mm case for a 36mm.  Please forgive me if i placed this in the wrong area and thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums.  Do yourself a favour by measuring the dial diameter, and the inner rehaut of the case using a calliper, this will give you some idea if it will work or not before shipping to a modder.  Also trial fit to check stem alignment also.

Domi can do that with the cyclops but if you prefer to have a sapphire on it...best bet would be to measure the plexi and try to find one that fits online or let your watchsmith do the search. I'm always impressed what Domi is able to find :D (especially in his parts bin/box ;) )
