indywatchguy
I read several threads on the difference between gen and rep Omega bracelets and wanted to find out for myself if it's worth the cost. I was able to acquire a gently used gen at a very good price! Here's my take the gen is lighter and the links are rounder. It feels slightly better on the skin but not by much. The average person would not notice. Being the rep bracelet is heavier and shinier most untrained would think it gen. The rep bracelet does have slightly more sheen to it. My thoughts are the rep bracelet is fantastic and good enough unless you're building a super uber franken gen is not necessary. Below are pics of my LMPO with rep bracelet and gen clasp and the gen bracelet I acquired. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
kernow
Whilst I don't own a LMPO, my rep Omega bracelets are on the whole rather good. Yes, the gen is better: softer and less sharp edges but at a substantial cost.
Magnum_PI
I just brought my new rep LMPO to a watch smith to have the bracelet resized. He has lots of experience with Omegas apparently. According to him, the 2 tells on the LMPO were the casebook and the bracelet. I had the the second hand painted red so the dial wasn't an instant giveaway. I think mainly the clasp was the issue with the bracelet overall. He said the pin in the extension joint was very iffy. But assured me it was fine for regular ware. Also I've noticed the half line connected to the clasp on the underside portion of the bracelet gets hung up often. It's a little to tight and gets stuck against the edge of the clasp. I think I'll ask my watch smith to buff the edge of the Hal-link a touch to fix it possibly. @indywatchguy: how would you compare the CLASPS of the rep and gen? He said the watch was an amazing deal for the price though and was very impressed. He admitted without him being able to hold it in his hands and examine it closely, he would have never been able to tell it was a rep when viewed on my wrist! I'm super happy with the watch. Love it. Drifterr
The rep bracelet is great but could benefit from oil bath as it does squeak a little Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
Magnum_PI
How long do you need to soak it? Mine doesn't squeak - yet. Does the oil bath improve the feel/softness as well?
Magnum_PI
Has anybody resolved the way the last half link gets stuck on the clasp? Any fixes?

Hate taking it off Both clasp in my review are gen. I would rate the gen as being much better in terms of engraving and functioning. This is why I only replaced the clasp and not the entire bracelet.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Magnum_PI
Thanks for your reply. I am thinking of replacing my clasp with the new Omega Micro-adjusting clasp. But they run in the neighbourhood of $200 though. Yikes! BTW: Does the last link get stuck against the clasp with the gen. clasp in place?
