TwoTone
N E W M o d e l – TAG Heuer Aquaracer Caliber S Jun 02, 2005 - 01:33 PM The new TAG Aquaracer Caliber S is capable of measuring and displaying fractions of time and is equipped with a perpetual calendar and patented bi-directional hands. This model will be issued to the crews participating at the TAG Heuer organized international sailing event from May 25-28, 2005 in the Bay of Saint Tropez, France. The “TAG Heuer Aquaracer Trophy” will see 16 TAG Heuer branded sail boats involving 160 professional skippers, journalists and opinion leaders from 18 countries compete during two days to win a trophy celebrating the birth of the new chronograph from the 145-year Swiss watch company. Organized as a Nations’ Cup with each boat proudly bearing the colors and flag of a different country, the “TAG Heuer Aquaracer Trophy” will be the first occasion to test in competition the regatta countdown and chronograph functions of the new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Calibre S. Envisioned, designed, developed and industrialized at TAG Heuer by TAG Heuer watchmakers, designers and constructors, and manufactured only for TAG Heuer, the Caliber S sets a new milestone in Swiss analog chronograph history. For the first time, this new movement frees designers from the dictature of the 3-6-9 and 2-6-10 sub-dials architecture and proposes a patented and revolutionary way of reading time-related indications. Its bi-directional hands driven by bi-directional motors offer the most universal and immediate reading as directly derived from the dashboard technology of sportscar tachymeters and RPM indicators. In the future, the Calibre S will be proposed in many different functional and aesthetic versions in other TAG Heuer series. Unlike traditional chronographs, characterized by small counters which are sometimes complicated and difficult to read, the TAG Heuer Calibre S equipping the Aquaracer revolutionizes watchmaking by displaying Time, Chronograph elapsed time and a unique Regatta countdown solely with the 3 central hands (hour/minute/second) and two patented counters hosting bidirectional hands positioned at 5:00 and 7:00. The 3 central hands are always used to display either the elapsed hours/minutes/seconds in the Chronograph mode, or the hours/minutes/seconds in the Time mode or the remaining minutes/seconds in the Regatta countdown mode. This unique and intuitive way of displaying the chronograph hour/minute/second with the 3 central hands makes the New Aquaracer Calibre S the easiest to read chronograph in the world. The right semi-circular counter with bidirectional hand displays the tenth of a second in the Chronograph mode. In the Time mode, the date is displayed thanks to the left and right bidirectional hands of the semi-circular counters: the left counter indicates the tens and the right one the units. The case measures 41mm, dials can be had in blue or anthracite and the watch will be available worldwide as of September 2005. TwoTone
Nicolas Delaloye "Geneve" A Photo Essay by Ron DeCorte January, 2007 My first reaction upon meeting Nicolas Delaloye was to ask myself why I had not heard of him, or met him, before. As the day progressed I began to realize that he and his watches are of the same type, slightly understated and quiet. So it is that Nicolas is able to work quietly and unassumingly in his Geneve atelier without much attention from the outside world. Let's hope that will change in the near future. After working for some of Switzerland’s finest watch companies such as Patek Philippe, Francois-Paul Journe, Cedric Johner, and helping to found the company Roger Dubuis, he decided to start his own independent watch manufacture in 2002. In 2006 Nicolas premiered his new line of watches, Garde Temps. Having an eye for detail that might be missed by others, he uses chaton set jewels held in place via three screws. All plates and bridges are hand finished with polished beveling, wolf tooth winding wheels, and Geneve waves (Côtes de Genève). And did I forget to mention that some of his watches are available with engraved plates and bridges? As you can see from these photographs, M. Delaloye is a man of traditional skills who holds them in reverence and applies them in practice. Courtesy TimeZone
