I have a gen classic 2000 Tag where over time the crown has become more and more difficult to screw back in after adjusting time or date. Lately the crown will no longer pick up the thread and will not screw in. I am looking to offload the watch very shortly therefore not wanting to spend too much on a repair. Can anyone advise the likley problem and an idea of repair cost in the UK. Is it more likely to be the crown which is threaded or the part the crown screws into? However, saying, I have encountered on many occasion that the o-ring inside the crown has been worn and gummed up, those problems will cause frictional issues as well as screwing-down capabilities. I will firstly get a watchsmith to look at the crown - mention what i've stated here and see if he can find the problem. Either way, once you mention it, the watchsmith should be able to tell you how much to fix - instead of telling you to leave it with him and then give you a overpriced quota.
