Tom
Obviously there is a good reason why the "Officine Panerai" engraving is upside down on my 217 and other Destro's - the mechanism are simply cribbed from the standard reps, and so are upside down. But yesterday my girlfriend who knows nothing about watches let alone reps, looked at the back of my watch and said "Why is this writing upside down?". Is there anyone out there who does a destro rep with correct markings? It just seems such a massive and obvious error, even allowing for the fact that not many people are going to see the back of your watch. It just annoys me now and makes me wonder why I bothered with the cannon pin fix etc Edited March 23, 2007 by Tom
dalayclass
because when you turn the movement it's written upside down...the don't change engravings on the movement that's why it's wtitten like this. It's this simple. Go and see Panerai's website, the gen have the same engravings, don't worry
watchace
That's right, gen lefties have them upside down too.
leftydna
Actually gen Destro's don't have them upside down ............ sometimes! closeup 217 gen movement 217 gen movement bottom right is gen movement Since some gen Destros do use a Destro movement or anyways the OFFICINE PANERAI type is reversed I am looking for a rep movement that would accurately copy that. Otherwise it is common when converting/reworking a right hander watch to just turn the movement 180 degrees. So any 2 handed watch should be able to be converted! Great news for Lefties! ______________ Don't be LEFT out LeftyDNA That's right, gen lefties have them upside down too.
Highflyingclive
Tell your girlfriend to look at your watch whilst standing upside-down, in front of a mirror. Could be fun
leftydna
Clive I thought you were going to suggest something much more interesting when she was upside down.... like using a loupe rather than a mirror ______________ Don't be LEFT out LeftyDNA Tell your girlfriend to look at your watch whilst standing upside-down, in front of a mirror.
