Jetsons Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 I'm sure Pam OEM crowns are expensive and even more difficult to source but it looks terrific. Great work, The Zigmeister! Looking forward to the finished product.
RWG Technical Posted May 3, 2007 Author Report Posted May 3, 2007 I managed to get it all together tonight, and took some various pictures. I expect to post them tomorrow. RG
Watchmeister Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Rob, of course fabulous work. Can't wait to see it fully reassembled. And for those you who thought I was nuts to buy these crowns.
V Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 By the way Warren my crown is not like this.. It does not have two rubbers (and the main one) but One rubber and the main one.. Probably mine is from later years...
Watchmeister Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Two gaskets is more contemporary version. Most likely your bevel is less as well.
RWG Technical Posted May 3, 2007 Author Report Posted May 3, 2007 I'll have the end results posted in a few hours, busy doing up my retort to "The Technician" on movement servicing... RG
iglutikut Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 The Zigmeister, you never cease to amaze me my friend. always a pleasure seeing your fine work in action.
ubiquitous Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Damn!! That is HOT! Quite possibly the most accurate, complete 2893 PAM29 rep in existance!!
fishgodeep Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Excellent results Rob ....look forward to sending my few pieces in in the next couple of weeks Simon
vaccum Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 WOW....excellent work as usual my friend!! I saw this crowns on the bay but never bidded cheers, vaccum
promotersf Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 Good God that looks great! did you install a new datewheel or is that chieftang's cyclops. i'm giving up on finepics datewheel but an OEM crown and jimmy crown guard looks amazing. anyone know where to get these parts?
Watchmeister Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 Parts: Cyclops - Watchmen (still available, perfect for the 2893's) They are correct 6mm size with comparable magnification to gen. On some there is a small amount of distortion but it is true on the gens as well. Chieftang made an even better one but it is larger diameter. I recommend that one for all later models. Datewheel - Lello or Finepics (still available and necessary mod) Crown - Gen Pre-A or A (not necessary if you have Jimmy CG). If stock CG you want a palp (crown and cg hole are bigger) CG- Jimmy, very difficult to find
sssurfer Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 And for those you who thought I was nuts to buy these crowns. I still think you were nuts to buy those crowns. But I have to admit the result is awesome! Congrats!
Watchmeister Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 Probably. But look what is paid for the watches these crowns go on. Do you think you can get Pre-V parts from PAM?
sssurfer Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 Probably. But look what is paid for the watches these crowns go on. Do you think you can get Pre-V parts from PAM? Now I got a little confused. What have Pre-V to do with this thread? Don't they belong to that other thread? (which is awesome as well!)
