donce Posted June 20, 2007 Report Share Posted June 20, 2007 I was looking at some swiss SEAMASTER CO-AXIAL watches and wondered how accurate they were. I tried to compare the pics to the GEN site, but could not tell with all of the different angles and lighting. See-through caseback give away anything? Dial colors? Any help would be appreciated!!!! You'll be let down if your expecting a rep to sport a Co-axial movement though.. best you can hope for is a "swiss" eta movement... and that is even going to be suspect if your ordering something a dealer claims to house a 2892 ETA movement... do your research before you buy... TeeJay Posted June 20, 2007 Report Share Posted June 20, 2007 Which model Co-Axial Seamaster were you thinking of? As mentioned, the Planet Oceans are fairly accurate, as are the Aqua Terras. The latest version of the 'blue SMP' (as worn in Casino Royale) has not yet been replicated accurately, and even the nicest looking reps still have a variety of flaws, such as printed logo and brand name, which should be metallic attatchments, or the dial missing the luminous 3 marker, and also the placement/allignment of the text on the bottom of the dial. It depends how tollerant you are of flaws. Personally, I wouldn't mind wearing the watch, but, I know that others who demand more accuracy would consider it unacceptable, as it could easily be detected as a rep (by other watch enthusiasts, but possibly not the Viewing Public, who would not know what the proper details should be) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I thought the co-axial looked very clean and simple, but wasn't sure about flaws. I feared the see-through case would be a window to the rep world showing off the non OEM movement, so I seek advise and/or experience with this model. I am colorblind and rely on you guys when I read about dial colors and such being off shades. Any direction would be great. I read the reviews that by-tor and other members put together before I post these questions. Seriously, if by-tor wrote a review on a Swatch, we would all be digging in our trunks of years ago to sport the 80's timepieces once again!!! Very elegant, mature watch. Something to be worn with a business suit, not a 'sport watch' like the SMP. Depending on the dealer you go to, the flaws will vary, and depending upon which color combination you choose. If you were to go for the simple black dial, then that's about as good as you can get, but, some dealers sell the watch with a black datewheel with white lettering (correct) and some have it with a white datewheel with black lettering (incorrect) Personally, as much as the dark datewheel looks good on the Planet Oceans, I think the Aqua Terra actually looks better with the white datewheel, as it breaks up the dial, and also 'looks' more like someone might expect (if comparing to the Datejust) I'd be the first to admit, that's only a personal opinion, and it's a matter of personal tastes and how important accuracy to gen is for you. Was there a specific watch (from a specific dealer) you had in mind? I'd be happy to look at any images and review the colors for you Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
