Recommended Posts

Are there any members or Watchmakers that install cyclops's on my Pam 063? I just got all the parts in. I am looking to install/service the following:

1. Lume

2. datewheel install

3. cyclops

i have contacted:

The Zigmeister - well i really havent. PM'ed him last month before i had any parts ordered but now he's on vacation <_< (i wish i was...)

favor fav - he doesnt install datewheels nor cyclops.

vaccum - everything but cyclops.

i kinda wanted to send everything on a one shot deal.

can anybody refer me to a good watchmaker?

thanks,

stan

Let me see if I understand this... you contacted me for information on doing these mods last month, I gave you feedback. As soon as you got the parts in, your first choice for doing the work was not me, but was flav and vaccum, and when they could not help you, you turned to me...

That's like asking the homely girl to dance, after you have been turned down by all the other good looking girls.

So I was your choice for information, yet I was not your choice when it came for the actual installation. In other words, after helping you out, if flav or vaccum would have been able to help you, I would never have heard from you again...

Sorry, but my dance card is full.

The Zigmeister,

i did contacted you last month regarding my installs. My apolozies to you if i have offended you. I contacted Flav and Vaccum after i found out they were in the U.S. I am weary about shipping and customs. I pm'ed all three watchmakers at the same time and those were the responses i got.

The Zigmeister: order parts, install when arrived

vaccum: order parts, install when arrived, no cyclops install (have DSN crown and Stem)

Flav: lume only

I have migrated over from RWI after winning a VIP membership here. I like it here as there are more technical and detail info on watches. As for loyalty, i respect all three watchmakers mentioned as they each have their respected skills. I wanted to send the watches domestic so i can avoid customs.

i purchased a watch from Yellowmen and he referred me to you as you did quite a few amazing mods to the Navitimer. Chieftang also referred me to you when i purchased the cyclops. Therefore i wanted to send my watch to you for the upgrades..........so.....Yes you were right.

I assure you, no doubt, that you are one of the best looking

you must have more than one dance card.........

I think you have answered your own question. :g: But if you show a little patience:

This one has the original cyclops, not Chieftang's.

please stop teasing me. i want my watch to be as beautiful as yours.

i hope i dont dig myself a whole with any watchmakers. I just would like to get my watch modded.

I am not offended, but taken aback somewhat.

My avitar shows clearly where I live, Chieftang lives in the USA, Yellowman in the EU, Kruzer and many others in the USA. All have and continue to send work my way, with no issues. If you had reservations about shipping and customs, why even bother sending me a message in the first place?

I respect Flav as well as Vaccum, and this has nothing to do with either of them.

If shipping to Canada was an issue, I would have thought you would have let me know your concerns before now.

Many members aren't comfortable shipping to Canada, that is their choice, and I understand it completely (although I have yet to see or experience any "Customs" problems I hear about from people who don't even live here...go figure). Many others from as far away as New Zeland have no concerns, and send watches my way. From reading your initial post, it looks to me as if I was a choice of last resort, not due to my location, but because I was the only one who offered a complete package for the work you needed taken care of.

i have never sent anything out of the US other than wire transfers/paypal to dealers. I am pretty new to all this exposure to reps as i registered with these watch forums in late April. After reading all the stories about customs etc. etc. i didnt feel easy sending REP watches out of the counrty after sweating when trying to get it into the country. I asked Yellowmen regarding customs issues and he said " same method he ships to The Zigmeister". If you can point me in that direction, i hope you will consider to attend all my watch services. I have a couple more i would you to service.

1. navitimer that makes a hollow sound on the bezel when you tap on it.

2. my pam 063

i have just spent $900 and i would like to have them modded and on my wrist so i feel that money was well spent instead of sitting there on my dresser. I do understand that watchmakers are constantly busy on these forums attending other members. I also realize you are on vacation till September. I know you do outstanding work per members here on these boards. I would like to schedule an appointment as soon as you are avaliable. I can send payment for your services in advance to hold the appointment.

Reasoning for sending you a pm regarding servicing is because YOU ARE GOOD AND TRUSTED. i was just concerned about customs.

please let me know

sounds like you've got yourself one nice navitimer :tu:

fyi, the extra dollars to mod the 063 will also be money well spent. i recommend waiting for a ziggy lume job (assuming he'll do the work for you at this point) -- nobody does sausage dials better. here's my 063 (chieftang cyclops, finepics datewheel, ziggy relume):

I can say without reservation that US <-> Canada customs risk is near zero. "Broken mechanical wristwatch for repair and return to sender" is not only an accurate description, but one that has not yet in all of my shipments attracted any suspicion. Kruzer can attest to this as well. USPS Global Priority (not even Express) from the West Coast USA gets things to The Zigmeister (East Coast Canada) in 3 or 4 days. So that tells me the packages are sailing right through customs.

Of course, as is the case in life, there are no guarantees. But in this case, history is on your side.

Fair enough, everyone is aprehensive with new things...

After reading all the stories about customs etc. etc. i didnt feel easy sending REP watches out of the counrty after sweating when trying to get it into the country.
All I can add is that these "Stories" are that, "Stories" and nothing more... I'll only say that as a citizen living in Canada, I have first hand experince with customs, and have not had a problem...as I said before, the "stories" are always from those who don't actually live here. It's one thing coming into the USA from China, but another all together coming from Candada.

As with anything in life, there are no guarantees, I can only offer my experience based on the past.

1. navitimer that makes a hollow sound on the bezel when you tap on it.

2. my pam 063

If memory serves me correctly on the Breit, there are no case clamps on this model, it's just a snug fit in the case...more than likely the hollow sound is just the way it is, I can't remember if I tightened the bezel when I worked on it...the bezels come loose quite often as well...

I know you do outstanding work per members here on these boards. I would like to schedule an appointment as soon as you are avaliable.

Understood, and I am happy that in your short time here, you have gotten that impression. My philosophy is always, if you like what I do, tell a friend...rarely do you see any posts about my work, and this is ok by me...

I am fine with setting something up between us, PM is open, I sent you a message yesterday (or was it today), if you respond to that message, we'll work something out.

I am not trying to be a jerk, but as you can imagine, I have a fair number of members who use me to their advantage, and after a while it taints a person. I can't tell you how many members will suck the very life out of you if you give them a chance...so I have stepped away from providing a "consulting" service via PM. When I feel as if I have been taken for a ride, well like anyone, I get a bit peaved off...

No worries, I'll look for your PM. Have had worse start ups with members, who have in turn become great friends...

I would take Ziggy up on his offer. On the customs issue - there is none. I probably have 25 packages going back and forth every year. Just follow his instructions. :) By the way, you don't want to be on his banned list. Trust me, you make that list and you will never hear from him again. ;)
