hwrd Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Very much interested in this rep. Since it is not new its pluses and minuses have probably been well documented. Need input and recs from those with past experience particularly from whom watch should be purchased. Appreciate all info. Note: my own research did not allow for an informed decision. Thanx.

There's a newer version available though. Read the Omega Guide for more. Edited July 18, 2007 by By-Tor

I actually had read your excellent review and was interested in the model you acquired not the newer rep altho I like the idea of a sapphire crystal . Appreciate your help. Any recs on dealers with the newer version if I can't hunt down the older one?

By-Tor Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Thanks guys... and you're welcome hwrd. This watch is one of my favorites. Unfortunately it looks like the bulged acrylic crystal version (which is much nicer than the new one) is out of production. Same goes with another rep classic: the full size Moon Watch (Seagull/Venus). I always told members to buy these before it's too late. The movement (Seagull ST-19) is virtually bomb proof. It's not 100% chronograph movement (the 6' subdial is a 24h hand), but it can be "frozen" like on my watch. I've never heard anyone having problems with this movement.
ishanga Posted July 20, 2007 Report Posted July 20, 2007 hi, i just bought this watch 2 months ago. So here are my observations, short & simple. 1. Logo crooked & wrong. 2. The hour markers look shine like pieces of crystal, nowhere close to gen. 3. bezel font size is wrong 4. dial says automatic when its not. 5. not a real chronograph. 6. this is not a replica. 7. Dont buy from SILIX PRIME. This next point might just void all of the above. * the accuracy of the movement is impeccable, even my casio asks my BA for the real time.
vric Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 (edited) There is different version of this watch in Manual. I think there is 3 1. The first one which Bytor reviewed. 2. The newer one with flat sapphire crystal, different hands 3. Mine, which come from nowhere ! I personally was very lucky and found the best version imo. Doomed Crystal, No "Automatic marking", good hands.. Based on the first version, but without Automatic Writing As for the Movement not having problem: I kinda Agree. It's a very nice movement. But, I do have a very small problem on mine. Sometime, if you start the chronograph pushing "slowly", the chrono minute hand jump to 1. This is very minor problem and it only helped me to get it cheaper Beside that, it's been running rock solid for few months, keeping excellent time. Edited July 21, 2007 by vric
