$tingray
Gentlemen! I just have stripped my three weeks old MBW 1665 completely! And i noticed there was no gasket under the glass ring! there sure is a canal for it Should there be a gasket? and if is it the same as on the back? Clark has only gasket for the back.... Im confused Thanks /J
RWG Technical
No gasket under a crystal... If it's a sapphire pressed in crystal there is a compression ring to hold it in place, for a plexi one that fits on the outside of the case, the bezel assembly holds it in place. $tingray
Rob, allow me to correct. The 1665 has a acrlic crystal seated on a case lip and secured by a compression ring. Under this ring there is a grove in the case for an o-ring. I never seen a rep come with this from the factory, you just need to add one. Thanks for the reply guys! Rep.. did I understand you right, They come without gasket but the case is built to take one! There is a "canal" where a gasket can be placed and the base of the compression ring will cover it. Am I right? Got one for sale? Have a nice weekend /J

I wonder if the o'ring is designed to be the waterproofing part? If so, how does it work... RG
kingkitesurf
Yep a rubber gasket goes underneath the retainment ring. It surely keeps water out. After fitting a gen tube and crown, I also put the ring in there and dove to 30m with the watch. No problems. It has the same sealing as the gen that way so theoretically it should withstand 610m
Kollektor
Very helpful post, and the timing couldn't be better. Is this a special gasket, or is it rather generic for watches according to size?
