Guest carlsbadrolex
I have a local seller (about an hours drive away) that claims to have an EU purchased Navitimer with Swiss 7750 movement. Although he seems very cooperative and forthcoming with answers to my questions, I have my doubts. My first question was in reference to AR... It seems to me that if one was to go to the expense of sourcing a GEN 7750, they would have the crystal AR. This one doesnt (or at least he admits he doesnt think it does). Seconldy, I asked about the recessed date wheel. He claims that if you hold the watch at the right angle, you can see far enough under the dial to see part of the next date. TO ME, that means it is an Asian 7750. He claims to have taken this watches twin (which he is wearing) to Tournea Jewelers for a GEN strap. They installed a GEN strap and buckle for him, and it was only after he told them it was a replica that they figured it out... And that was done by noticing that the date was a quickset. Is the GEN, not a quickset date? If it were to have a GEN Swiss movement, its a great price... If its an Asian, its well over market for a new watch. Ive looked at the reviews, Ive looked at the pics and forwarded them to him. Is it worth a 3 hours round trip to see the watch? Thanks!
Pugwash
And that was done by noticing that the date was a quickset. Is the GEN, not a quickset date? The gen is not a 7750. It's a 7753 and the 7753 has a quickset button at 10-o-clock that Breitling don't use. So, it can be a gen 7750 with the Asian cogs to make it a 7753-alike, but it's debatable. Why put a gen 7750 in with the crappy mods? Oh, and Navitimers don't have AR, iirc.
r11co
There are genuine 7750 based Navitimers too. Older models though....

r11co
With recessed dates? Not in the slightest!! Check this out. The subdials being in a different place are a giveaway tho....
b16a2
If it has the recessed date problem it will be the 3,6,9 layout, the 12,9,6 versions don't have this problem. Therefore as Pug has stated, it is likely to be an Asian 7750, because a Swiss 7753 would not have a recessed datewheel, and the chances of a Swiss 7750 with moved gears.......does he have a friend called The Zigmeister?
