alanytical Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 So I get this new Breitling BCE and it has lint inside and a droplet of something on the dial. Maybe it was oil spray that dripped, but I'm not sure. What product would you recommend to wipe the dial clean? Thanks!
Logan Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 If it doesn't have AR coating then a clean dry cotton polishing cloth will work. Try to remove the individual blemish first and leave rest of the surface untouched. If that fails polish carefully with the cloth then blow out any lint. If you have AR coating then you need to remove the blemishes as best you can, without touching the inner surface of the crystal at all. The replica AR coating can be fragile. The lint can be easily blown out (use a proper blower, you don't need spit all over it). The oil might be removable with a tiny bit of rodico or the corner of some paper.
jdavis Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 (edited) I would try a damp microfiber (lint free) cloth first if that failed, you might try a light application of lens cleaner on the microfiber and apply to the spot. Edited August 24, 2007 by jdavis
Pugwash Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 For oil on the dial, I'd use Rodico. For the lint, I'd get JOE
alanytical Posted August 24, 2007 Author Report Posted August 24, 2007 Those are all great tips that I would not have thought of. Thanks again!
