What does the pearl really looks like in the gen insert? I saw some has the metal ring and some don't. What are the variations?

Thanks.

Vintage or plastic crystal models' correct insert has an acrylic pearl without the metal ring.

Here you go:

But you will see inserts with metal ring on the pearl in the gen. 5513 etc. as listed in the bay. Are these upgraded by the RSC?

Two variations:

- vintage pearl has no metal ring and is called "acrylic pearl" It was always filled with Tritium with varying activities, the first ones I think were even filled with Radium.

- modern pearl has a metal ring, teh Tritiumand later Superluminova filling was protected by a plastic cap over the pearl. The pearl was introduced when watches like the 1680 were discontinued and the 16800 was launched.

Edit: No - the eBay ones are not gens. The RSC will always install the shown insert. The ones swapped out are now filled with Superluminova, but looks the same. It is a fact that there was no metal ring pearl back then.

Thanks.

So this is no gen.?

5513 insert

The insert is a fake.

The insert on the 5513 is genuine, no question. But I doubt that a RSC has installed it. Mayb eit's just the pics and it looks like a metal one whereas it is an acrylic one.

Thanks Rep.

It is quite clear from the picture it has a metal ring on the pearl on the 5513.

Nevertheless, I will take your words and stick with inserts w/o ring for a sure gen. item.

Cheers.
