cib0rgman Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 I just bought a 1570 on ebay, I got tired of looking at the date windowes of my MBW 1680 with UBI's datewheel. That datewheel is b***, no matter how many times i remove it and installed again it will never align correctly. it was all wrong form the beginning some number will work and other will not. What do you guys think I should do. I have a MBW 1680 with genuine Dial should I installed on that watch or maybe is better to put it on a MBW 1665. I am not sure if the movement will fit the 1680. Does anybody know if I need a movement spacer comment appreciated Regards
cib0rgman Posted August 31, 2007 Author Report Posted August 31, 2007 Hi! You will not need a spacer, but you will need to grind down the inside lip a bit, done best with a lathe, but it was also done with a jeweller file. You need to remove about .5 mm. This makes the movement sit closer to the dial side thus letting the rotor spin in teh case and let the case screws be engaged. Also, the crown position will be better. I would always install it in the 1665 as it is made better, the 1680 is a 5513 case vcopy and hasa too low crown position so might not fit a 1570. That is a good advice, I see what you meant about the 1680 been the crown a little bitt low. I guess i can afford to spend a littel bit more money on a MBW 1665. Now all I need is the crown and the bezel insert, any ideas where to source those parts. Should I go for the White or Red Seadweller. what do you think Thanks for the advice "edit for spelling"
cib0rgman Posted August 31, 2007 Author Report Posted August 31, 2007 The only thing that bothers me about My MBW 1680 is the date wheel, I wish I can get a good date wheel to fix that issue
cib0rgman Posted August 31, 2007 Author Report Posted August 31, 2007 You can always find crowns on eBay. Maybe takea vintage one. YOu might want to go for teh White SD as it is a bit more accurate, dial wise. And there are actually gens from a transition time that used the DRSD casebacks... so they are not WRONG. Just rare... It actually just depends on your taste, if you prefer Superdome or Flat crystal and how much you want to pay... Thank you for giving advise, coming from you means something. I have a vintage crown without the dots. I have not been able to source a tube that fits the crown. I think I'll go for White SD Now to search for one maybe I can find a good deal here on the board Thanks a bunch
